after the snow and ice, a huge concern is the salt and sand left on the roads. Even in a cage, you can feel the wheels lock or spin under heavy braking or reasonably aggressive acceleration. Rain alone doesn't bother me. But oi slicks brought up by the rains do make me more cautious, even with only 8hp. A sliip spot is what put me down under braking.
Riding in the rain is like driving through bugs, except they don't leave you covered in bug guts.
I have ridden down to about 20°F with sketchy patches of frost. Unfortunately it takes longer to gear up than to ride 6 miles to work, so I get lazy and leave the scooter home.
The rain we had all day yesterday, probably made for some clean roads, but now it is snowing again. Last year I was riding on March 12, and March 14 the year before.

A thought about the kill cord... when I see videos of children on electric or gas powered two or three or four wheelers - straight into the tailgate of a truck or into a fence or whatever, I often wonder why they don't come with a tether to cut the power until the riders are trained. Seems like a reasonable aid for reasonable parents.

Maybe years ago it saved some money but not anymore. adults and kids up at 5am, they have the lights on to get ready for school or work. As for heating and cooling energy, use a programmable thermostat. We have three shifts t work, so the environmental controls are always on. On cooler days I see multiple parents sitting at the bus stop with their vehicles running to keep their children warm or dry. Streetlights come on or go off with the sunset/sunrise. DST on and off, so now they need to be reset 4 times a year manually rather than none. I actually don't bother anymore, since I've gotten better phones, so really I should unplug them and save that much more electricity. All the wall clocks at work are already between 3 and 15 minutes different, and they don't get any better as over the next two months they MAY get reset. Maintenance always misses a few, and they don't bother to even come close to synchronized.
I find most people do not know how to change the clocks in their cars, so they are either close or off by an hour, or way off since the last time the battery was disconnected.
DST time changes now only cause irritation.

For people interested in action cameras, and GoPro is out of your price range The Veho camera, which I used for my youtube videos, is on sale again for a limited time. www.dailysteals.com/heist/7124/Veho-MUVI-Sports-CameraA crazy number of mounts and bits including a waterproof housing. In fact I have a few videos on youtube taken with a Veho www.youtube.com/user/steved457/videos?view=0&flow=gridI do need to find a good cheap video editor. I don't remember what I used for these, but it has an automatic youtube setting plus uploader. The video without the waterproof enclosure has better sound, duh. I think all 6 of those videos are with naked camera and no enclosure. I tried some with the camera on my pocket or lapel but they tend to be aimed high. My video 'test-2' shows that issue in the van. I will try to add more review as the weather warms up.

Between the head studs. The normal GY6 is 54mm center to center while the GY6B is 57mm center to center. From what I understand, same piston, different jugs

Geeeeze - I never heard of Taida, but now I have results. Even DROWsports is fairly new to me, but there is a 63mm BBK for only $120.

ooo another GY6-B Welcome I have the Xingyue ITA 150 with the GY6-B and 16" wheels. So far I've found nearly nothing for performance. I haven't looked at changing the rear gears, I'd like to have a little more hp to start with.

The battery also slipped my mind. Take that out, unless its a gel, then no worries. The gear oil could be an issue, possibly a slow drip. Maybe duct tape a rag over the vent. Or just drain it and refill after , its probably due for a change anyhow. A liquid cooled system should be leak free - besides any overflow tank. Extra hands are nice, but non-existant for me. Just like flipping a bike onto the seat and handlebars, loads more access, and I know laying on the ground for long periods to fiddle with stuff is not so much fun. Clutch , tranny, exhaust, oil pan/oil pump, drive shaft... It all starts out like fun and games but by the time your done, your neck and back are feeling it.
With a high enough list to stand or sit and not be awkward, then I wouldn't think about flipping it.
Laying a two wheeler on its side, preferably table height would also work. But scooter plastics are fragile so a 180° flip increases the access with less risk to the fenders.
I have also thought about a block and tackle inside the garage, I'm sure the rafters will hold fine.

Short of pulling the motor to access the bottom of the head, you can remove your mirrors, tape some foam packing material around the handlebars, and over the seat. Drain the oil and gas. Flip the scooter upside down. Wrapping a movers blanket around the body can help protect it from scratches.
I haven't flipped my own, yet, but I have an exhaust to modify to fit this spring. I have heard this mentioned on other scooter forums and several motorcycle forums, too.
