I'm a working student. Usually leave work at 5 and fight rush hour traffic to get my class on the other side of town by 6. On this particular day I had to stop by my apartment first which put me about 15 minutes behind schedule. Then I realized I needed to stop for gas. Since I hadn't had lunch, I went in for a snack and can you believe the power goes out?! By the time it kicked back on and I paid I was super late. So I leave there and get back on my normal route which takes me up a pretty steep hill to a four way stop. When It's my turn to go i give it a pretty good amount of throttle and before I knew it the front end was at about 75 degrees off the ground. I slid off the back landing on my feet but still holding on. This caused me to twist the throttle even more! At that point it was a full degrees riding on the spoiler. It turned to my right side and we did maybe two circles before I finally let go. Luckily I was unharmed. The scoot suffered a shattered tail lens and spoiler. Also a few scratches on the side panels and exhaust, but overall not bad. Honestly, I all I could do was laugh about it. Two nice ladies stopped to make sure I was alright. One guy shouted his approval from his car. After gathering the few things that fell out of the cup holder/storage area and checking the bike over, I jumped back on and went to class. Got there about 20 minutes late. 90cc bbk + steep hill + high throttle = bad day!

I was thinking, because, the stock engine is not strong enough to do a wheelie...

I'm about 160. Always wanted to try a small wheelie, but definitely not by accident or in the middle of heavy traffic.

I was thinking, because, the stock engine is not strong enough to do a wheelie... Guess I should fill out a signature. It's got the Naraku 52.4mm kit, but I did the 16/50 gear kit today which toned down the torque a bit.

You could always mount your seat in front of the handlebars instead of behind; that to prevent wheelies ;D

Things like this is why I have always disagreed with the choice of motorcycle/scooter throttle control. Falling off generally increases speed. They need to institute a thumb control or something that would not ramp up speed as a human reflex causes him to hang on/up throttle when falling off or when the bike is getting away from him. Glad you're ok.

@wtd: It means you are holding your throttle incorrectly! At MSF course, they teach you to have a flat wrist at idle, and roll wrist down as you ride. It's uncomfortable, but in cases like above, or in case you need to quickly brake, your hand will be in the best position.
On the other hand, someone who has fallen off because of over revving, will be easier on the throttle next time.

Solution, sissy bar and or willie bar, maybe even a kill cord Seriously, glad you are ok and the scoot only got minor damage. Use this as a learning experience. A video would have been awesome . Roy

A thought about the kill cord... when I see videos of children on electric or gas powered two or three or four wheelers - straight into the tailgate of a truck or into a fence or whatever, I often wonder why they don't come with a tether to cut the power until the riders are trained. Seems like a reasonable aid for reasonable parents.

My buddy asked me why I didnt just hit the engine kill button. It just happened too fast and I didn't even think about it. Live and learn I guess. Definitely taking it easy on steep hills from now on.
