Just out of curiosity, do you have the type of battery that you fill yourself or one that you can't replace the fluid?

I think its great that you are willing to patiently fix everything and you've come to the right place for questions. Honestly, I would look into security for your scooter before replacing everything. It sounds like someone might be messing with you...although some of your problems are a lot of work for a prank. Maybe getting a lockable cover will help.

Hey everyone. I picked up my 1986 Honda Elite Deluxe 150 the other day and have been working on it to make it run and look great. I got it in pretty rough shape, having been sitting for a few years (and being 27 years old). I took off all the body panels and started getting familiar with part placement. I cleaned out years of dirt, a little rust, and check all the major maintenance parts. Changed the coolant, oil, sparkplug. Had to connect the air filter hose which was not on the carb and set the idle but I still think it needs a little adjustment. Also, a shock to me was that the screws were really tight on everything, most likely indicating it has never been worked on. I guess that is to be expected when the guy who owns it is 70 years old. I found that the thermometer cable was not attached so the radiator was not turning on and cycling.
Sadly, I put a replacement belt on in the CVT because the bike has 16k miles and my father went off to check out the bike, and it got all chewed up. We had to methodically untangle tons of metallic strands from the belt around the clutch. I bought the part from an online parts dealer who indicated it was the right one. I think it was probably right, but it was either defective or my dad ran it too hard without breaking it in. We checked the variator and clutch for damage and they seemed fine. Hopefully we can get a new belt and not run into it again with just being a little more careful. Anyways, I had to run back to my college town for work and forgot to bring pictures. But maybe once I get them I can update this thread or start a new one.
Cheers

Best of luck on your new adventure. I hadn't worked on one either until last year, but with a little internet help and my dad's help now I can take apart and fix almost anything. Ask questions first, be patient, and remember to be safe. After that, it just becomes fun.

Welcome Seth, and that is one good looking scooter. I like the pro photography for it. I am young and always wanted a motorcycle but my parents made me settle on a scooter last year. It definitely is different from the ride mentality to the way motorists treat you. Just enjoy it for what it is worth and you will have a blast. I wouldn't be getting another scooter if I didn't love it.

Hey everyone. My name is Devin and I was a member of Scootdawg even though not a very active one. I saw that the forum was moving so I made the same name over here. I owned a Znen 150cc scooter for about 8 months until it was stolen last year on my college campus. Coming on the forums was really depressing for me so I just stopped posting. Thankfully my parents have taken pity this summer and fronted me the money to get another scooter since I will be living in a better location. I bought a 1986 Honda Elite 150 Deluxe on ebay from a guy by my house and am so excited to pick it up on Tuesday. I look forward to getting back into the virtual and real scooter world.
Cheers
