[replyingto=z0m8i3]Z0M8I3[/replyingto]That's pretty awesome for buying and repairing scooters, but I think there was a debate on this forum about how even though there's no laws for it it's still in one's best interest to have insurance on them? I don't know.
That's pretty cool though, I had to pay over $250 title transferring, registering and insuring my scooter.

Good luck on your bbk! You'll be able to reach 50mph no problem once you install your bbk and taller gears. Until you install taller gears you're physically limited to 45-50mph, but scrappydogscooter's performance gears on ebay will mean you can go over 50mph. My top speed with the bbk and without taller gears was 46mph downhill. With taller gears my top speed is 51mph on flat terrain. And I weigh a hefty 267lbs!

As long as you get a title that is a killer deal! If there's no title be sure to get a bill of sale at least so that when it's reported as stolen and the cops come to your door accusing you of stealing a scooter you'll be able to prove that you legally obtained it. That's just my two cents on craigslist deals... Do 49cc scooters have to be titled, registered and insured in KY? I ask because I don't see a license plate on the scooter. Maybe he took it off to take pictures? In any case the forum will be here to help you solve all your problems should you get that scooter or a scooter like it. You'll have no trouble getting it back in running condition. As Chris says "Scooters never die! Time for resurrection! "

[replyingto=mgsiciliano]mgsiciliano[/replyingto]That jet is too much for a mere 60cc. Is it a 63cc? Because that's what I had a while ago. I used an main jet with a performance filter that was too big for my carb, so something more like 80- should meet your requirements. As far as the air box goes you can modify it how you wish, but it's only ~$15 for a performance filter, you might as well get one of those (don't forget the filter oil!) when you can. If you do a plug chop you will probably find that you are running very rich. Especially if you have the stock airbox. .003 intake, .004 exhaust should be good on as far as the valves go.

[replyingto=hank]hank[/replyingto]Gods dammit...
If most states have similar laws, why do they even sell these things then?

I use a 38 pilot jet and have had to use one with a free flow filter, but every engine is different. I suggest you try the extra long 35 jet offered by Absolutely Scooters absolutelyscooterparts.net/catalog/idle-p-366.html It advertises lengthiness allowing for easier starting. If that doesn't work then you could try the 38, but that's normally just for people who bump their ccs up a lot. 35 is stock for 150cc engines, just as an example.

[replyingto=hank]hank[/replyingto]Thanks, Hank! That's very reassuring . Don't get me wrong, I was quite happy with a max speed of ~50> mph, but if I can achieve 55mph, just once, then I'll be able to prove all those big biker "friends" wrong, that it doesn't take more than a hundred ccs to go 55mph. I definitely don't plan on going at those high speeds often if at all, but it is nice not having to go WOT to cruise around the neighborhood anymore. With 63ccs I had to go pretty close to WOT to maintain 30mph on the speedo, now it's barely half throttle ;D Apparently it's only going to get better. Sweetness.

Yah, I don't believe that is the correct front caliper for our scooters. Sorry the be the barier of bad news! And the winner is Ryaanlx! You are correct. Now I have two wrong brake calipers. At least the turn signal bulbs look radical. My mother was mad at me for choosing red over orange because she says red is for stop lights and I said I don't care, lol. Today I fixed someone's computer and made another $200. Can anyone please point me in the right direction? When riding the scooter the brake is on the left side, and it is a single pot caliper. Anyone?...

I got the variator today! My mother demanded I go buy her coke, but I insisted that I install the variator first so that I don't have to wait for the cvt to cool down. She relented. ;D So I took it for a ride on rt.120 and I noticed a lot smoother acceleration. I'll test my speeds with GPS later, but I only hit about 50mph on my way home with the coke and chinese food. (It's a 45mph road, don't worry I'm not speeding /that/ much, if anything I'm keeping up with traffic ;D )
I'm thankful that it didn't come with weights, I've got a stockpile of those now, the 9g seem to work alright, but it hasn't done wonders. I'm hoping that everything will all start working the way it should and I'll gain a few mph once I get my jets in the mail. Right now I'm running a restricted UNI.
