[replyingto=ryaanlx]ryaanlx[/replyingto]Is there more than one type of single pot brake caliper? The descriptions on all these sites say "fits 139qmb sport style scooter" etc. And this one on partsforscooters is the same one at absolutely scooters, while on scrappydogscooters they only sell the dual pot brake caliper. Maybe I should just start shopping on ebay... Ugh!

Bolt hole spacing on the one I have is 44mm... So it should fit...

Alright, I've finally emptied my budget (though I'm getting more computer work all the time so that may change...). I ordered the following from partsforscooters: 169-274 Hoca QMB139 Performance Cooling Fan 1 Hoca QMB139 Performance Cooling Fan $13.99 $13.99 100-143 Front Turn Signal Bulb-Red 2 12v 10w turn signal bulb Red $2.49 $4.98 100-130 Front Disc Brake Caliper 1 GY6 Front Disc brake caliper $34.99 $34.99 I went to order from absolutelyscooters, but their brake caliper was $3 more expensive and didn't include brake pads! I also went ahead and ordered that performance cooling fan I've had my eye on. It's cheaper from partsforscooters than anywhere else I can find it, and it cost as much as a computer cooling fan so I couldn't pass it up. Hopefully it will help keep my engine nice and cool Do you think the caliper will fit, or will I be returning another brake caliper? You probably aren't going to want that fan from us. It's a performance fan in that it decreases the drag on the engine, but it actually doesn't cool an engine quite as well as a stock fan and shroud. If you want to cancel that give us a shout with your order information and we'll square that away for you, provided that we haven't already sent that package out the door this morning. (Because, like I mentioned in that other post, when we are here, we are fast.) Matt

[replyingto=fugaziiv]fugaziiv[/replyingto]If there's less drag on the engine, does that generate less heat? As long as the fan isn't designed to heat my engine too much on my short trips I think it should be good, I've just always wanted to test that performance fan. What are the benefits if not better cooling? It seems strange to me to have a performance fan that doesn't cool things better.

Less drag on the engine allows it to spin up faster, which in theory will allow for the engine to reach its power peak sooner thereby increasing actual scooter performance.
Unfortunately most scooter performance products are not built with longevity in mind, but actual overall scooter engine output instead. This is one of those parts.
A fan that moved more air than stock would actually cause more drag on the engine and bring down performance, while increasing cooling and potentially reliability.
I guess it all has to do with the perception of what the word performance implies. Anyway, I'm just trying to provide you an honest assessment of that product.

[replyingto=fugaziiv]fugaziiv[/replyingto]I've got an 81cc bbk and I'm hitting speeds of 45mph with my current gearing, gonna be upgearing today hopefully, I don't think I need much more speed, haha. I really appreciate your quick and straightforward answers, I now believe that I will not be going with that fan. Do I call or is there someone to email about my order? The only thing I want removed is the fan. If it has shipped already then I guess I'll just install the fan anyway

Just give us a shout at 866-478-8700, and ask for Ray and explain the situation to him (mention that I told you) and give him your order number. This will be the fastest way to get this taken care of for you.

Alright, I removed the fan.
Once again my quest for a fan that pushes more air begins...

Maybe a better more understandable term than drag would be load. drag is an aerodynamic term ,usually used when discussing planes. IMHO ;D a fan is like a prop, the more the pitch (the more air or water it moves), the greater the load on the engine.

"Load" it is then, as that is technically correct... although I think the point was understood regardless. ;D
