[replyingto=ej132]ej132[/replyingto]9g sliders, equal to 8g rollers, was just a bit too heavy for me and my former setup. However, with a lighter performance variator 8g would be a great place to start. For the stock variator 5-7 should be good depending on other factors.
I'm sure you know this, but the a/f screw doesn't effect the main jet very much. It only effects up to 1/8 throttle or so. The A/F screw works with your idle jet for low speeds and idling. If your screw is all the way out then your idle jet may be too big?
Here's some info that Alleyoop gave me regarding popping sounds and rich/lean conditions.
Hope this helps some.
Good luck!

See, I thought a wider variator faceplate meant a slight increase in speed. Right now I can go to the bank, but I need 1mph increase to be safe. Just looking for one more mph and I'm hoping the koso variator can deliver this. (Yeah, I'm OCD ) In any case I plan on upgearing soon anyway just so I can hit extremely high speeds and hopefully won't have to go WOT as much (I'm only doing WOT 10-15 seconds at a time during the break in period, but I could use some faster acceleration and higher mid range top end). As soon as I figure out how to install gears I'm gonna order me some

[replyingto=millsc]millsc[/replyingto]As much as I hear people keep telling me to get a bigger bike I'm starting to have some pride for riding a former 49cc. 1(p)39qmb all the way! I've come too far to give up on 45mph now. I'll be getting some gears soon.

[replyingto=millsc]millsc[/replyingto]Makes sense. So I should be able to switch to all 9g weights and have similar acceleration to what I have now? That sounds pretty sweet.
I ordered the variator as soon as you sent me the link. Thanks again!

So I've been doing test speed runs with the "My Tracks" app from google and I've noticed that my top speed on flat and top speed downhill are almost the same. I get 44.93mph on flats and 45.65 downhill. Does this mean that my variator is maxxed out? I simply don't think there's a way to squeeze more speed out of my machine other than buying a new variator. So which affordable variator do you recommend? How does Koso compare to the rest of the variators out there?

Scooters are just awesome. It would be awesome to work with them, period. Maybe I'll get lucky and find a scooter on craigslist to rebuild, but until then I don't know the first thing about dealing them. My Uncle Scott actually gave me $200 for the zook, then he took it for a test drive and I had to give him his money back because it wouldn't takeoff. I think something is wrong with the clutch or the belt is finally worn out after 23 years. If you still want the thing I'm asking $250 or equivalent in trade.

[replyingto=domindart]domindart[/replyingto]Yeah it is! ;D So the following is in my Scrappy cart: # Jet Brake Calipers Brake Shoes Generic Mirrors new intake manifold (sans the PAIR nipple), And I'm eyeballing stuff on ebay: Koso variator, 1500k torque spring, new gears, possibly 16x50 miscellaneous decals, etc. Not sure what else to get since I'm almost satisfied with my performance

My gates power link was heavier, stronger, and wider than my stock chinese belt Maybe that's just because I have a 1p39qmb though. I ordered mine from newegg.com

[replyingto=domindart]domindart[/replyingto]I definitely need some feasable way to transport the scooter. Unless I find someone on craigslist willing to deliver, and then someone to sell to that is willing to pick up, I'm out of luck.
I think it would be more fun to just get another scooter somehow and tinker on it for the learning experience.

Just made $300 off the DiBlasi. Minus my mom's present and I've got a bunch of spending money left over for scooter parts. NOW what do you guys recommend I buy? Performance variator, torque spring? What else? Keep'em comin'
