They just don't understand scootering is where its at I too hear that once in awhile, (but I love my scooter) but if they try riding a scoot they would know what were talking about, I love motorcycles too, but I can't ever seeing me trading my scoot in for one, I'm having too much fun

:pInteresting. Sorry you are being bugged. I seem to get the opposite % of the time. I n fact, I have been surprized. The Harley guys (of course, I often do not recognise a real Harley from all the fake ones most of the time) But the Harley guys seem to be hard to beat with a wave. They are first most of the time. Wonder why my experience is so different? HM??? lefty2

Not into Harley's either,...XXtra loud pipes and Ape Hangers. Just me. Now, I do have several customers that ride Harley's, and they're a good group of folk. I even get the wave or "salute" from them while I'm riding, and I return the same. Now the young Crotch Rocket group...many, not all, seem to be show-offs trying to get themselves killed. Scoots are just relaxing.

I get chased down by Harley riders on occasion and most want to know about my scooter. Most want to know how much my Aprilia cost and where you can get one. They don't have many negative things to say after they have had to work at it for 10 to 20 minutes to play catch up. Many can't believe that it is a 250.

+1 Harley guys live in the past days of glory. I'm sure when they first appeared in the early 1900's, people where saying the same thing: "Get a real horse!"
Nowadays scoots are the future! Forget about all that overpriced, uncomfortable, and dangerous block of steel, that costs thousands to maintain! Just get a cheapo plastic scoot. Fenders and tupperware costs hundreds, not thousands, in case of replacement. For the price of one harley, you can buy 10 scoots!
Not to mention the gas savings. I gladly roam around on my 150cc, and even 50cc scoot, and still surpass harleys in the city, because that's where the bulk of my riding is anyway. I can get between cars, and zigzag on smaller curved roads, where harleys can't keep up!
For the highway, a 250cc is good enough. For the city, a 125 is good enough. No need for 1000+cc's when you can't even use 10% of that bike's potential, unless you plan on doing track races with it at high speeds...

Of course! The one way you can prove what a "Rugged Individualist" you are is by purchasing a product of mass production and mass marketing. A lumbering, overpriced steam engine utilizing the latest technological advances.........from 1940.

Well... I've now been riding for nearly 55 years, mostly on Harleys. Deep down inside, I still love 'em... Choppers, baggers, bobbers, the whole enchalada (with a smattering of Triumph, BSA, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and ONE 110 mph McCulloch-powered mini-bike thrown in for "seasoning")... LOL!
I loved 'em all, and in my younger days, I figured everybody should be riding whatever I was riding... That's just the "reasoning of immaturity" as I call it... Normal, but not so good...
I've had my fire-breathing dream-chasers, bloated cruisers and even that danged-near suicidal mini-bike. Now, I like scooters... Duh... Times change. I ride what I like and can afford. I do notice very little "discrimination" from bikers though... I can park "Lil' Bubba" right in with the $100,000 choppers at the local watering hole and am welcome to throw down a few with the local cave-men. I traded rides once with one and we toured the town. It was a hoot to see Conan the Barbarian's bigger, uglier brother riding a 150 scoot... LOLOLOL! Reminded me of the credit-card barbarians at the donkey-ride TV commercial. The guy looked like he killed and ate people for a living... Turned out he was the chairman of a business!
Now, I REALLY wouldn't recommend buddying up to the known organized-crime outlaw groups unless you have a death wish, but most of today's bikers are pretty cool. Maybe there's hope for the rest of the world? The crotch-rocket techno boyz aren't as interested in scoots as the big-twin crowd, but they're still cordial enough.
Back in the early sixties when I was riding a chopper, EVERYBODY hated me just because of my ride and appearance. It's a whole lot better today!
Ride what you enjoy, and enjoy what you ride... whether it's 5 horsepower, or 500. After all, it IS the ride!

Harleys never looked cool to me. Just don't care for them, even though if that is what somebody wants, fine with me. Went over to Rome one summer and watched all these guys shooting through traffic in Italian suits and Italian sunglasses on big scooters with top cases.
I thought that was cool, so here I am.
Now, I also thought the Ducati's looked awesome, but the wife said "no".
