"We are made to suffer. It's our lot in life." - C3PO I hear you on that. People say the same thing to me, but the jokes on them. When the zombie apocalypse hits, the scooter will be the ride of choice. Why? Great gas millage and they are easy to repair. While everyone else's hi-tech car and motorcycle check engine lights are coming on, and with no way to fix them, they will be screwed. If it comes down to it, I can fix my scooter with a coat hanger. Then all I will need is a sword and a handgun. When this happens... I already call the moniker "GY6". That's me! I'm even writing a character about her now... so there.

When I parked my 50cc at the local motorcycle store, the first thing the mechanic says to me was "Time to get a real bike?". I told him: "It doesn't matter what I ride, I love this scoot! For 99MPG, and 50MPH, no motorcycle can beat this!" And when they hear the 'near 100MPG' number, they look twice, and all of a sudden want one too!
I've ridden to car dealers, where car dealers show off how good the MPGs are on a toyota prius, Chevrolet Spark, or Smart for Two. When I tell them about my scoot, they shut up. They know nothing beats a scoot (except for a motorized bicycle that is).

They just don't understand scootering is where its at I too hear that once in awhile, (but I love my scooter) but if they try riding a scoot they would know what were talking about, I love motorcycles too, but I can't ever seeing me trading my scoot in for one, I'm having too much fun

Some of the Harley guys who have made nice comments about my scoot were ZZ Top and Willie Nelson look alikes, Even the Ducati folks have made nice about my scooter especially after sharing a few traffic lights with me.

The "real" bikers at work are all great. Most of them ride "sports tourers", like a comfortable version of a sports bike, that's easy enough to fit the Mrs on the back with some luggage and disappear off for a weeks holiday, so they all totally understand the comfort and ease of riding a scoot. One guy even has an 1100cc sports tourer, a 400 Burgman and a 125cc china scoot. So they're all great.
Cagers on the other hand, all my family and friends, just smirk and laugh at me riding a scooter. They don't get it one bit, but then most of them are the sort of clone drivers, who get in, start up, and sit in their own protected little bubble. It does my head in.

Sport bikers tend to have scooters as their daily rides. Many of the upper level managers at the largest sports bike dealership here have scooters for the daily commute which also helps.

Im sooooo sick of people telling me to get a 'real' bike. Whats wrong with my scooter?? I can outrun some motorcycles. I got people telling me to get a Harley. Im NOT a Harley guy. In fact I AM into scooters. Why must people be soo ignorant? You gotta quit caring what others think about your ride. It opens up a lot of choices and makes life more fun.

Considering what I have driven in my life (from a Fairmont wagon to several huge station wagons to a diesel Escort), I stopped caring what anyone else thought of my "ride" a long time ago!

I have only had one group of idiots telling me to get a Harley -- and they were in a cage. Some (many? most?) non-rider people think the only proper motorcycle is a Harley. I have never had a rider tell me I should get a Harley -- even the employees at the Harley Dealership. On the road I get as many or maybe more waves than when I was on the Savage. It may be me, I'm ugly. Ride Your Own Ride.

I've had the "Real Bikes" and liked them at the time. When younger, it was the thing to have...big, dressed out, loud...and there were no maxi-scooters! Plus, it made me feel "cool"! Well, now at almost 60 years young, I could care less about being cool and I kinda like being different! What I have found is that most people don't have a clue what it is I'm riding! A lot of people don't realize that they make scooters that big (mine is a SYM RV250). Most people can't believe it when I say I ride a motor scooter! I'm a big guy and in their minds, they are thinking about the 50cc models. I used to do the same thing, not realizing that there were such things as maxi scooters. I realize now that I saw them on occasion, but thought they were some version of a sport bike. Anyway, I love my scooter and don't intend to ever go back to the big, bad motorcycles! I met a couple of Harley riders in the local cemetery, where we were paying our respects to loved ones. I parked where their bikes were parked and we got back to the bikes at the same time. They were interested in my ride and after we talked a little, they gave me a big thumbs up and said, well, at least you're on two wheels with the wind in your face! That's what it's all about! Right on!

Is that why some of the worst, the craziest, road raging lead-foots I've had the displeasure of meeting, (obviously throughly enjoying full blown Psychosis) have been driving Minivans?
