Heres what ive got on my stock 50cc 4 stroke gy6 as far as an exhaust system. Im looking to bbk/other normal mods soon. Im hesitant about an Ebay exhaust though. I think that i want to get an exhaust shop to custom bend a "header" that is a much larger diameter. Am i right in calling the picture a header? The piece in the picture is a smaller diameter than the rest of the pipe beneath the muffler. I briefly read today about using a dremal grinding tool to shape smoother the insert in what i believe is a bent mandrel piece . Is it possible to buy a high flow bent mandrel piece? I dont want to spend alot of money having a performance shop custom bend me a header. It may be $65 - ? Dollars considering they have to at least make two welds attatching the top and bottom clamps to custom made pipe or header or whatever they are called. The insert look to be about 17mm Id. The pipe itself looks to be 23mm Id without insert. Thats a difference of 6mm. Od looks to be about 22mm Od of pipe looks 29mm. This is the pipe beneath the exhaust but above skinnier pipe attatched to exhaust head If you would like to contribute to this thread a good start complete with photos and identifying of parts go to tuningmatters.com

Heres my exhaust head. Is it possible to modify with a dremel type tool if you were confident that you would be happy with the final result? I want higher flow . Havent ever seen any pics of what a machinist would want to do to this part either. Another pic:

I am also interested in this, i picked up a performance exhaust on ebay and the header appears to still be restricted, I'll take some measurements on Monday

On sveral GY6 exhaust headers theres two pipes in the header! This is how it looked when I cut my header, the small inner pipe goes all the way to the muffler... No wonder the engine can't breath!

Im going to contact my father whos a mechanic with "some" welding experience. He might have some insight on welding flanges to pipes and if need be, adjoining two pieces of pipe.

Aliexpress has headers on it. Not sure if theyre the same as the one I got with my can as a set, but the one I got is one solid diameter all the way through and it really helped my bike breathe, its a lot happier with it than the stock one. Id give ali express a look if I remember correctly I saw some headers for like 20 bucks or so, I just dont remember if tbey were stock or better

www.bing.com/images/search?q=FMF&view=detailv2&&&id=19E47D73688DAA2AB20A3952E8E46203BB06B6C2&selectedIndex=43&ccid=Z%2bd7ioXR&simid=608054772884832334&thid=JN.g%2bnXOsfMfXMaYw3i3CCJNAThis direction in custom. On a Stocker even if you just matched the Id of the pipe with the OD of the Exh. Port the Real World Gain won't amount to much or snit. you could Dump the Exh. into a Coffee can and it still won't be worth to much. The Can inside a Can Muffler like I had was Far more a issue than the head pipe Dia. Some Cylinder Heads that come with Oversize Valves have a larger Exh. Port so matching the to dimensions Will Compliment the BBK and Cylinder Head package. Both my Stock and 100% Guaranteed Genuine Fake Performance Exh. had a Big ol Chinese Globe of Snot Weld in the Id. JUNK!! If not have noticed and cleaned up, the extra $$$$ would have made it Lose power. You can Buy a Head pipe pretty darn close and with some home mods make work from. Kohler Twin 17hp and Onan Twin 19.9hp Power equipment. Millions of Onans around as they were also widley used as Generator Motors for R/V's. Find a Lawn and garden dealer and if he's been around awhile will have a bunch of scrap Onan's around. This will save you allot of time and money as the pipe has a flange on it already and the bend is not far off The Port and Starboard Pipes have different bends so get the one closest.

Theres Allot more to Performance Exhaust System than a Matching or Larger Diameter Dumping into a Fart can i.e. Flow. I see nothing but Junk on the Market. Just a tad above Noise Maker. It will still Compliment Mods. Compliment We most likely won't see any descent product. The problem is these Scooter hit the Market at $600-800 or so. A for Real Exhaust will cost $400-$600+. So how many will Pony Up and dump that kind of coin? Very Very few. So the Market dictates to a Potential mfg, will not move on to R&D and production of a System that Knowbody will buy.
