Since i've got a bit more storage (see my discount/shopping thread) that i don't technically need, it came to mind that i should prolly keep a small tool kit on board to deal with problems that inevitably will arise.
What makes sense as a field tool kit for a scooter? We're talking universal in case the size or type (2T vs 4T) makes a difference in what you need so you can help others.

Minimum tools for 2 or 4 stroke
1/4" metric socket set Flat tip and Cross tip (Phillips) screwdriver(s) 8-15mm open end wrenches Zip ties Rags
Spare parts
CVT belt Spark plug Fuse A few lengths of wire matching your scooter's wiring Turn signal and Headlight bulbs
Nice to have
12V emergency impact wrench (cheap at Harbor Freight) 1/2" socket wrench and sockets for the heavier nuts/bolts Spare coil Emergency tire repair kit Air pump
I carry all the above in both my scooters. Served me well last year when I pushed a rocker arm through the valve keys dropping my intake valve onto the piston. I was several blocks from Scrappy's, so I hoofed it to buy a new head, and put it together right there on the side of the road in about an hour's time total.

I don't carry that much stuff around with me......but I do carry my cell phone, and I have a wife with a pickup truck.
Now if I were going on a cross country tour, instead of just to town and back, I'd surely have a few of the spare parts mentioned above.

As much as possible, you always need the tool you are missing!

I stopped to help a guy broke down on the side of the road last year. He had already called his wife, but we were able to get his scooter running before she got there. Turned out to be a loose spark plug boot, which didn't require my tools, nor did it require his wife to drive across the valley, a fact I ended up hearing his wife emphasizing as I gently turned my throttle and snuck away! BTW- if you have a uni air filter, here's a thread about using the stock air filter box as a storage compartment for emergency tools, freeing up even more of your storage space. itistheride.boards.net/thread/4256/mod-stock-airbox-toolbox

Duct Tape & WD-40: If it moves and shouldn’t, use Duct Tape, if it doesn’t move and should, use WD-40.

My advice----
Don't carry more than you need....... Let's say the worst happens ( theft )
You would hate to be double burned by losing all your best tools at the same time.
GHCOE has the right idea, a small decent tool set with just the essentials. Maybe a small section of fuel line and a hand full of quarters or a five dollar bill.... Just in case.

Thanks guys!
I am into this kit for about $30.00 including the bags. Most is harbor freight on sale tools. Combo wrenches were $6.99. Multi screw driver $1.99. Feeler gauges $2.00. 1/4 inch driver set $12.99. Spark plug socket came in original kit. Bags $9.99 for three.
I am looking to add a bit of electrical tape, bailing wire, and some correct sized allen wrenches too. I can probably remove some of the combo wrenches. Just have not figured out which ones I really don't need yet.
True that you loose money if they get stolen, but they are priceless if you should need them.

Go to your local grocery store, During the night shift and ask if you can have a few strands of baling wire...... Free is always good
