oldchopperguy Actually your talent with art and computers would work great. You see my old man is not only an accomplished mechanic but is also an automotive painter of 40 years and a retired painter from the Ring Power/Caterpillar Co. His shop that I use converts to a spray booth. However the problem is, neither of us can draw for crap, so making a kewl stencil isn't something we can do. With your talents I can easily have something blown up and used as a stencil and come up with some really cool paintwork....just a thought anyhow, and nothing I'm looking to do anytime soon. Lord knows I'm gonna have my hands full for some time.

I also live in Vegas, and ride year round. We don't get cold enough to stop me, and we don't get snow or ice on the roads. I have a universal windshield I purchased last year from Scrappy's, it goes on about this time of year and keeps me from being blown too cold, and keeps me dry. I take it off for the summer. Definitely makes a difference, the only part that gets wet with this windshield is the top of my helmet, so it's worth the $35 IMHO.

I ride from all the snow is gone from the streets, usually April but sometimes not until May until the snow stays on the streets, usually November but I have ridden in December twice. 8 degrees F. is the lowest temperature I have ridden in. Modern materials and clothing have made it possible to do this.

I'm planning to go as deep into the winter as I possibly can here in southern NJ. I already feel the need to get my windshield installed and have been considering adding in a second power source just to run a heated jacket liner. Base layers help A LOT in cold weather and a balaclava will keep your face from getting windburned with cold air coming up into your helmet or through its ventilation. For now I've been a little nippy under my heavy riding jacket while my legs and hands generally stay nice and toasty and I rode in some 40 degree rain at night couple of days ago but aside from getting a little wet, I was mostly warm. I'm optimistic about being able to pull it off all year but I really dislike the cold lol. I just got this nice new action camera on the cheap and was planning to start a scooter vlog on YouTube. I guess we'll see what happens.

35 degrees and a 9 mph wind out of the north. A fine day to take a ride to see how my cold weather gear holds up. The Carhart Bibs and Coat were excellent against the wind. I even kept my head warm with a cap under my helmet. But a scarf or a pull-over with a collar is in order because the wind whistled around my neck. Brrr. And the wind got through my gloves as well. Cold hands. And I'll definitely need to wear boots instead of tennis shoes. Cold feet. As a side note- I let my Scoot warm up a little longer because of the temperature but even still it ran a little rough until I rode a couple of miles. It even missed a spark (I think) a time or two but that straightened right up after a bit. I'm guessing also that the CVT was a little stiff and cranky from the cold but that too smoothed out after the first mile. Like me first thing on a cold morning, I'm a little slow to get my blood pumping. I just took it easy on her and all was well fairly quickly. Another thing I noticed was that after letting her sit for about a half hour I think the Enricher reset already because when I started her up after that half hour she revved pretty high for about thirty seconds. So much so that the back wheel was spinning at a pretty good clip. I wish there was a way of turning off the enricher. Anyway, my first experience at a cold ride. The old gal at Walgreens said to me "It's not cold if you love to ride". I love it!

Once we drop to the 30's then its the chinese scooter daily . I did this so I can power Gerbing heated gear . John

I've been shopping for Winter scooter gear for here in Florida. I ordered a Herringbone Cashmere scarf for only $7.45 shipped. Fighter pilots wear silk scarves because you need something very soft or you'll aggravate your tender neck skin due to your head contantly being on a swivel, as you search for potential enemies. Cars are my enemy but Cashmere should be soft enough. My insulated brown leather gloves arrived just now. $14.60 includes shipping. I like them! I'm still trying to find a cheap deal on a fairly decent full face helmet.

My Burgman went into storage Saturday. I'm with you.....my last ride for the year, (44 miles) was on Veterans day.....added stabilizer, and topped off the fuel tank. Now, all three of my 2 wheelers will be staying indoors until late Apr or early May.
