I know , I did see where he had a clogged pilot . It's funny how there's not much to these engines but at the same time there are so many little things that can go wrong .

OK, tested the CDI. I didnt get any reading when touching the green ground wire and the red/black feed wire. So that means its an AC CDI then, right? On a related note, is there any similar way to test the actual CDI itself? Like to see if its working I mean.

Yes it is an AC CDI, But if the CDI is just messing with the Timing there is no real way to test for that you can test if all is ok like the COIL and power to the CDI etc. Here is a VIDEO but I don't think it will help, your problem is a little different than most situations. You have adjusted the valves right? Hit the simple stuff first. If valves are tight it will have low compression and will only run at higher rpms and will not run at low rpms. Alleyoop

Like Ive said before, Im nowhere near comfortable going into the engine itself to mess with the valves or anything else. Thats way beyond me. I mean look at what happens when I do something as simple as clean out the carb. If I touch anything in the engine my house will probably end up blowing up.

Get a DVM and follow the video,,it will rule out all the electrical stuff that could be faulty...if you are not comfortable adjusting valves yet than maybe you should have somebody else work on your scoot,,you may be making things worse than they where at first. Please don't take offense to this comment,we all have a different skill level when it comes to mechanics...

That is what I mentioned before and I thought he did that, that is why the only thing I can think of messing with the way it acts is his CDI is messing with the timing. So knowing now that he hasn't adjusted his valves I would say forget about the CDI for now and get the valves adjusted first which would make it act the way it does runs only at high rpms and when he lets go it dies will not take low rpms. And it gets worse after the motor is hot. Alleyoop

When you have a couple recent long threads it's somtimes easy to get things mixed . Eman has a thread about his scoot sitting for a couple weeks and won't start , where he mentioned he recently adjusted the valves . That's where I got confused .

UPDATE!
The CDI arrived today, I installed it, and... nothing. Still doing the same thing as before.

Your Gonna have to get the valves checked .

Checking them is as easy as turning the flywheel till the scoot is at top dead center , removing the valve cover , and measuring the gap between the rocker arms and the valves.
