So I was running my 150cc Rocketa clone smoothly a few nights ago. 1700 miles. All new wiring last summer. All of a sudden, it's backfiring. Flames coming out of muffler. Won't start now. Smells like it is flooded.
A few days before, due to my father-in-law's negligence, it tipped over and landed on muffler.
Not really an engine guy, but It's time to learn. I have read around and found two possibilities: cracked gasket on muffler....or bad CDI. Does this make sense as two places to start?

If it landed on the muffler, that's definitely the first thing to check.

Check where it connects to the exhaust port on the head, it probably pulled a stud or even broke a stud off holding the flange. And don't run it like that it will damage the Exhaust valve at the very least. Alleyoop

Or it could simply be the float in the carb is now stuck and flooding the engine. You may be able to free it with a few taps on the side of the carbeurator with a screw driver handle but may need to open the bowl drain to flush out any crud that got loosened in the fallover. Still check for any physical damage to the exhaust while your at it.

If it broke an exhaust bolt, you should hear a difference in exhaust note. My exhaust nuts came loose, and I could hear the different sound. Got underneath and felt the blowby. tightened em up and sounded/ran better.
So,yea,check your exhaust first.

Hummm Id say check your spark plug and spark plug wire, make sure it's on and tight.. Check the spark plug wires at the coil make sure they are tight. And definitely check what the others have said.
