So I snapped the throttle cable on my GY6 clone. Ordered a new one from Scrappy Dog. There is plenty of slack in the overall cable length...but the exposed cable ends are an inch too short. I adjusted the screws on the top end as far as they will go, and the nuts on the carb end all the way out. It's still an inch or so short...holds the throttle half open. I would imagine cutting the protective sheath to give me another inch is a real bad idea, since water would eventually work its way in there. Is my best bet to just order from someone else and hope it works? Or...?

Finally found it...buried underneath the starter valve. It was a super pain to get back in and clamped...no clearance from frame. But the scoot fired up and the short test run was solid. Once the JB weld on the broken mirror mount is solid and I can get the mirrors on, it's time for a cruise. Thanks to all for the help.
Just out of curiosity, anyone know what the plastic piece is in my previous post? I couldn't find a name for it anywhere. Not sure if it is because my bike is a 2007 and doesn't have any of the newer emissions crap.
Any time someone who helped is at Miller Park...free beer on me.

A tube comes off the top of the gas tank into this valve? A second tube comes from the valve to...somewhere where it was clamped.

It connects to a little plastic valve-looking think that is right behind the CDI. A second black hose leads back from that valve to (what I think) is the top of the fuel tank. I didn't take the back plastic off to verify but pretty sure.

So I am putting in the new coil, CDI, and plug...and this vent hose popped off from somewhere. I have spent far too much time trying to figure out where the heck it goes. It has a clamp on it, so it was somewhere.
Help? Wanna take the scoot to see some fireworks tonight.

So I'm thinking of just getting a whole new ignition coil instead of just replacing the boot. Have seen others go with performance ones...is it worth the upgrade by itself or would I need to upgrade other things with it to make it worthwhile? Just picked up the scoot a year ago. Aside from upgrading to 11-pole and replacing all the wiring, it's stock.

It is about a 30-minute ride from my house to Miller Park. I made it there and back one night, and there and halfway back the next. So I went to take off the boot to check the plug, and it basically fell off with barely a tug. When I got the plug out, I found this: In case that doesn't work...the threads from the inside of the boot are still on the end of the plug, along with the U-clip. That's probably not supposed to be that way. So when it backfired, could that have somehow broke the boot? Here was something else that surprised me...when I took the muffler off, there was no gasket between the engine head and the muffler. I felt like there should be one, so I cut out some exhaust gasket material and made one. Right? So I'm thinking a new coil and a new plug (while I'm at it)...and then hope?

So my father-in-law did something dumb, and my Rocketa clone ended up on its side. Looked OK at first inspection..and put about 50 miles on it before it started backfiring and flames were shooting out the muffler. Died right after that. Took off the muffler and something was rattling inside. Replaced it (thanks scrappydog) but it still won't fire up. CDI? Or...?
My skills: replaced all electrical. Engine novice. Beer drinking savant.

So I was running my 150cc Rocketa clone smoothly a few nights ago. 1700 miles. All new wiring last summer. All of a sudden, it's backfiring. Flames coming out of muffler. Won't start now. Smells like it is flooded.
A few days before, due to my father-in-law's negligence, it tipped over and landed on muffler.
Not really an engine guy, but It's time to learn. I have read around and found two possibilities: cracked gasket on muffler....or bad CDI. Does this make sense as two places to start?

Hi kids... Finally got my scooter's electrical all replaced and fixed up, thanks to huge help from Scooter Elements. On to the new issue...riding to work last week, the glass fell out of my left side mirror. They were a pain to find in the first place...green Rocketa-style. Looking for a source to get replacement glass for them. Any ideas? I've looked all over the place for green mirror assembly and can't come across one. This is the style I own...pic copied from Google, so it's not the ride side or color... store.oohla.com/storefiles/terminatorscooter//upload/imagemanager/998/1211156960721.jpg

Hi kids--
JMStar 150cc Phantom knock-off. Bought off Craigslist last fall.
Problem: dim headlights...losing volts somewhere...getting 1.6ish at the lights. Revving engine has no effect on them.
So far...replaced R/R...replaced stator...replaced battery...unwrapped and checked wires. Not solved.
Ready to simply replace harness. Suggestions for a good source? Absolutely Scooters has been my go-to source for most parts in past.

Answered my own question. Blew dash lights. Back to square one.
