So I snapped the throttle cable on my GY6 clone. Ordered a new one from Scrappy Dog. There is plenty of slack in the overall cable length...but the exposed cable ends are an inch too short. I adjusted the screws on the top end as far as they will go, and the nuts on the carb end all the way out. It's still an inch or so short...holds the throttle half open. I would imagine cutting the protective sheath to give me another inch is a real bad idea, since water would eventually work its way in there. Is my best bet to just order from someone else and hope it works? Or...?

howdy, no-one has answered , so i will but probably in ignorance. most of the cables i have seen are secured to the machine on the carb end with a screw and a clamp. those i have seen would be adjustable by sliding the sheath further one way or the other in that clamp. i'm assuming though that you would have noticed whether that was possible. so---this is just conversation.
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken

You should be able to trim the cable cover . You really shouldn't get any water In The line

Try rerouting the cable or just buy a longer one.

Each end has a connector One by the throttle and one by the carbs bracket You Cannot Trim either end. What he needs is the actual cable ends to be sticking out longer He just got the wrong one. Doesn't matter if he goes straight the cable part sticking out are to short. Alleyoop FIND YOUR CABLE: www.partsforscooters.com/All-Scooter-Parts/Handlebars-and-Controls-Cables

What u do is take an inch out of the center of the cable and pull the cover back exposing more cable . Then u can either just use black electric tape or some heat wrap to connect the cover .
