I WAS going to use the money from my Winter job to buy a Tomos moped. Well some dumbass, probably texting and not paying attention to where she was going ran over and killed my brother. Most funds went towards his funeral costs. Now I have to work another Winter and I'm not looking forward to it.

Terrible news, I'm sorry to hear it. I got rear-ended on my scoot this week by someone not paying attention.
Family needs first...scooters will always be there when you're ready.

I also lost a brother to a negligent driver. I know that no words will fix anything, but know that you aren't alone. Best of luck to you and your family.

Oh psych, I am so sorry! I can't begin to imagine how awful this is.
I'm with skyrider--her insurance should be covering all expenses for his medical (if there were any) and funeral. Not you, not your family, not his insurance. Her auto insurance.

I'm confused: Your brother has just been killed by a negligent driver and you're upset cause u had to spend your money on his funeral instead of getting a new scooter? Man, W T F is wrong with you??
I'd sell my scooter, goldwing, Fleetwood and my Avalon if need be, for a family member. Psycho is right.

my brother was also killed in a car accident many years ago. wish i could tell ya you'll be fine it gets better but it really doesn't. it's just that the pain gets buried over time... i can remember the day Dale Earnhardt took his last lap and all the emotions i felt the day i lost my brother resurfaced. sry for your loss.

When my idiot brother killed himself driving drunk...honestly, my reaction was mostly a complete lack of surprise.

The problem is that something ALWAYS seems to happen when I have plans. It's really frustrating.

All our prayers and sympathies to you. We're all in danger every day of the same kind of thing every time we ride. My Wife and I have lived long enough to have lost numerous loved ones too. I don't know what your beliefs may be, but I can honestly tell you from personal experience that God can, and will give you the peace you need concerning your Brother, and even provide the scooter you wanted.
People joke about "God works in mysterious ways" but it's true. And the closer you get to Him, the less "mysterious" His ways become.
Everyone has their own beliefs, and I never "beat anyone over the head with a Bible" but I can truthfully recommend you ask God to be there for you. You may find more answers than you'd ever expect.
Most sincerely,
Leo (and Betty) in Texas
