I also lost a brother to a negligent driver. I know that no words will fix anything, but know that you aren't alone. Best of luck to you and your family.

Not sure if yours is rusted or not, but I had a stuck nut on my scoot and a few people provided suggestions here: itistheride.boards.net/thread/5862/rear-wheel-removal-odd-meI ended up using lots of WD-40, chaining my scoot to a car for stability, and used a long wrench with a steel pipe for extra leverage (about 3 feet in total length). Still had to use my full body weight and a bit of jump and kick to get it loose, but it worked. Good luck!

Thank you for all the advice! I managed to remove the nut after repeated applications of WD-40 and just getting a bit western with it. Fortunately nothing broke and the wheel came off fine.
Now maybe I can actually get the tires on...
Thanks again!

Hi everyone, I got one here that's a bit of a head-scratcher for me, but I'm hoping someone smarter than I am can point me in the right direction. I am the 2nd owner of a Baotian BT49QT-9, or at least that's the manufacturer name and model number that is stamped on my scooter. The stock tires need changing. In attempting to remove the rear tire, the nut would not loosen. After trying to clean the gunk off of it, I stared at it and noticed that the nut was something I had never seen before (I'm not a mechanic, just a general DIY enthusiast). I've attached some pictures. I apologize if this is a stupid question. Does anybody have any idea how to remove this sucker? I don't really want to torque on anything unless I'm sure I won't break something. It won't budge. Is this a locking nut of some kind? Or is it something else? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I bought this kit: www.ebay.com/itm/100cc-Big-Bore-Performance-Power-Pack-Big-Valve-Performance-Head-Black-Exhaust-/151047655363?pt=Other_Vehicle_Parts&hash=item232b244fc3It includes a big valve head with the same size valves as the head you're looking at (according to the seller). The box the head on my kit came in looked exactly like yours too (Growsun), so I'll give you my 2 cents. I upgraded from all-stock parts to the kit you see here, so I can't tell you how it compares to other heads. In my experience, the whole kit runs real well. The only problem I've had is the base gasket included in the kit melted after a couple weeks. I've since replaced the head and base gaskets with a Hoca set and it has been scootin' along just fine ever since. Also, I ride a Boatian 50cc, so I don't know if the odometer registers in miles or km, but I have put about 500 on the odometer since I've installed the kit and I have no complaints yet. Hope that helps!

I just bought and installed this same kit a month ago. Alley is exactly right about the pilot jet. The pilot jet on the carb in my kit isn't marked with the size, but I put in a 35 from an old carb and it helped (starts easy and everything). However, it'll still pop (not backfire) at random times when coming down from higher throttle ranges, so now I bought a 38 that I'm waiting to arrive. I currently have the fuel mixture screw at 2.5 turns out.
For the valves, I use 0.003" intake and 0.005" exhaust on this kit and it works fine for me.

I did a search on the user name on this forum and couldn't find anything, so I figured I should post my experience on the ebay. I bought his 50 mm BBK complete package as seen here: www.ebay.com/itm/100cc-Big-Bore-Performance-Power-Pack-Big-Valve-Performance-Head-Black-Exhaust-/151047655363?pt=Other_Vehicle_Parts&vxp=mtr&hash=item232b244fc3I bought it during a sale at about $180. I needed a pretty thorough package to rebuild the top end, replace exhaust, etc on my dying (used and beat to...well...you get it) scoot. It was either this full kit or buy a BBK, exhaust, carb, and cam separately from wherever, which would've been nearly the same price as all that I got in this kit. The seller is really good. He was upfront about known issues like the head pipe not fitting all models, as well as providing his own fixes. The package arrived and one of the gaskets was torn and the A9 cam had a big gash in one of the lobes. I told him and sent him pictures and he sent new ones the next day at no cost to me, no questions asked! Good experience, and all of the parts I have installed work great. I haven't installed the CDI, the variator, or the spark plug cable yet (just haven't had time), but my scoot runs like a champ. If I get around to putting those in, I'll update on their performance too, but they appear to be pretty standard parts found elsewhere too. My only complaint is that the kit included some parts I didn't really need, but maybe I'll be glad I have them at some point in the future. Summary: Good experience, quick shipping (to HI nonetheless), fair price in my experience, treated me well, and my scoot runs like an entirely new machine and I can't get enough riding in! I recommend his stuff if you're considering it.

I agree, it sounds like compression. However, go back and make sure your spark plug is in tight (don't over tighten it though) and double check your valve clearance as both of these can lead to loss of compression. Make sure you're at Top Dead Center (TDC) by lining up the T on the flywheel. I usually do 0.003 inches on intake (top valve) and 0.004 inches on exhaust (bottom valve). Yeah it might sound obvious, but in my experience with these 4 strokes, being off even by a little on your valves can make a big difference.
If it still doesn't fire after that, try taking the carb off and spraying starter fluid straight down the intake and try to start it. If it fires, you have compression and spark and you need to make sure the fuel is actually making it all the way into the cylinder. If it doesn't fire on starter fluid, you know at least either compression or spark (or both) need to be fixed.
Give it a try and let us know what you find out.

It has been a few days, have you managed to start it or make any progress? If not, be patient and start ruling out potential causes. You'll make fewer mistakes if you take your time and slowly follow everything.
Also, if you follow the right steps and figure out how to get this scoot running, you may be able to fix the other scooter you have too. Don't give up!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I've been able to work through most of the basics and the well-covered topics (maintenance, install new parts, BBK, etc), but now I'm starting to have more specific questions, so it's nice to see that a forum like this exists.

Hello all, I've been lurking on these forums for a while trying to learn my way around a 50cc scooter. I have contemplated joining for a while, but I never felt I would be able to contribute much. Long story short I decided to join to after finally admitting to myself that the only way I have been able to get any work done on my ride was from reading hundreds of posts on these forums. I figured I better say thanks and pay it back somehow... Anyways, I'm just another guy who spends his time scratching his head with grease on his hands for far longer than he would care to admit. I hope to share my experiences in hopes of contributing and I hope to learn as much as I can from you all. I ask a lot of questions, so I hope you don't mind.
