My gas tank opening sucks! It has a cross piece just below the top of it so when I fill the tank gas splashes on that piece and gas spills all over. I can't pump the gas into the tank any slower than I do either.
I thought of maybe cutting that piece out of the tank opening but I'm sure I would just blow the damn thing up and melt my face off.
Or perhaps carrying around a filler tube that I use to fill the tank in hopes of minimizing spillage.
Anyone else have this problem or can you think of a solution to my problem?

On a new unused tank only. I drill a hole thru that bar, bent it back, then used a small amount of gas to rinse out the metal burrs. Like the opening now You can take a pair of pliers and bent that piece up will reduce the splash. Also I carry a gas can under my seat much easier to fill the scooter from the can and no more pushing the scoot to the next gas. Have fun and be careful.

It is light weight metal. Wire snips to each side. Twist back and forth with needle nose pliers and pull. No shards, no sparks and no tank removal. Takes maybe 2 min.

The piece is on there so the pump don't shut off thinking the tank is full, if you cut the piece and stick the pump down the hole the pump clicks off. The tank is shallow and you'll have to hold the pump high even if you cut the crossbar off. I just pump the gas in slow no issue with splashing, if your new to scooting you'll get used to it in time or just cut the piece off with some snips its thin.

I've never had an issue refuelling. I just hold the pump and go slow. It doesn't take long to pump a gallon of gas.

I have the same cross bar , but on mine I can point the pump nozzle to the lower opening and fill it up as quick as I want to " of course till it's almost full then I have to slow down " so u should try that before cutting it .

Bend it degrees with a pair of plyers or with a pair of tin snips nip out just the center part of it so the sides still give you a rest to prevent the nozzel from going to the bottom of the tank and prematurely shut the pump down.
