I pulled the crank on my stepsons tao t3 it was much easier than my 150 no stubborn kickstart gear had it out in less than an hour. Only irritant is that i had to remove the centerstand to split the case but no biggie. thinking about doing a stroker and a 52mm with hoca 17/41 gear set to see how fast you can really get a 50cc to go. ill take some pics and all that along the way.

You have my attention! Can't wait to see what you get out of it. I assume you'll be using a Buford?

This should be very interesting. Maybe you'll hit the 60 mark with it. If I recall you hit 58 on your 50cc without stroking it. Is that correct?

I hit 58 on the galaxy I had it was maxed everything except a stroker. It had 12 inch wheels and a 18/46 hoca set.

less than an hour? you getting good at this. will it go back together just as fast? one last question if you would; besides special tools what do you need to purchase to replace the crankshaft? if i'm not mistaken i know you need oil seals, case gasket and crank (obviously). anything else? does all that come with the crank or purchased separately?

On the 50cc all I used was an 8 and 10mm socket, flywheel puller tool, and impact wrench. The crank was in there snug had to tap it out with a mallet it slide right out on my 150. I may have to use the torch and computer spray method to put a new crank in. The gasket actually didn't break but I'll replace it. It was way easier to remove than the 150 no starter clutch, kick start gear or oil pump chain. I'll be able to replace it in about an hour.

You could reuse the oil seals I could just get the crank replace it and be done just take the woodruff keys out the old shaft. I replaced all the seals, gaskets and got new woodruff keys on my 150 so I'll probably do the same for the 50.

Larry you beat me to it . Are you the one who built a stroker and had it eat up variators ? MillSC I am happy to hear you are guru on wrenching and hope it goes well . Planning on Hoca or Nakaru stroker ?
Would be cheaper and easier to build a 2T .

Millsc, I'm so glad you mentioned you had 12" wheels. I was getting ready to order the hoca 18/46 gears. now I'm going to try to get a little more taller gearing because I have 10" wheels I'll guess I'll try the 17/41. I'm about to max out my scooter with the stroker. Im trying to get the 60mph mark or hopefully over.

Man, I wish some guys like you lived near me! I live in a small town and have nobody with experience on installing crankshafts, bbk's, gears, etc. My brother installed my bbk, and I watched him, so I'm pretty sure I could do that. As far as gears I have 15/36 NCY gears, but will need taller gears soon. Me and my brother are not going to attempt my stroker crank install, instead, the scooter shop about 30 miles from me, qouted me about $175 to install the crankshaft, so I guess thats the route I'm going to have to go.
