Maybe it's 'cause I've never had a trunk. Or maybe it's 'cause I don't use my scooter for everything. But my seat bag has worked fine for carrying all my work stuff. Sure it's not secure. But then I'm not leaving stuff behind anyways. Wouldn't want to leave my helmet baking in its little oven--sorry, trunk, all day long in our hot summers.

Don't care much for the trunk looks. On my 250 I use my magnetic tank bag from my 1200. I heavy doublestick taped a couple of metal plates to the sides of the center hump and it fits nicely. I carry a tablet computer, phone, reserve power pack, gloves, beef jerky, all the necessities. Of course, I never leave it on the bikes, and wouldn't want most of that locked in a trunk anyway. Occasionally, I'll throw a set of soft saddlebags over the scooter also. Not to say I haven't seem some nice trunks with integrated backrests though. Probably a good place to mount a stereo too.

Don't worry to much about the looks. I need a place for helmet, light and/or heavy jacket, rain suit and sometimes a lunch, oil and a few hand tools. Scootin,to me, is an all day adventure . I'm thankful I don't carry a female along then I'd need a trailer. Keep on SCOOTIN Smile its more FUN

I love my trunk! Matches my scoot and holds a lot of stuff. I actually think that it adds to the looks of my bike and makes it just that much easier to see. I say go for the trunk!

At some point/age, function takes presentence over form. My girlfriends son hates the trunk on my trike, (it doesn't look kool) but, it sure comes in handy. Besides, the whole bike is a chick magnet.

I use saddlebags. I don't want to carry heavy items (beverages) that high and that far rearward. However, I may add a trunk to make my scoot more visible.

It rains a lot here year round and a waterproof ABS plastic trunk is much better to deal with than soggy canvas or plastic bags. Personally I have not driven my van since July as the bike is now my main ride. Just can't deal with those $70 weekly fill-ups compared to $8 every 10 days or so for my Aprilia. That is 70 * 52 = $3,640 a year compared to 365 / 10 * 8 = $292 a year for gasoline. When you live where there is a year round riding season the saving from riding every day really can add up.

And when you live in beachless not-daily-rainy midwest....
And seems it's also your mindset. Me, I look to my wagon when I go somewhere that I'll need security. Like when I went to the park with my cameras. Actually, I took Mom's car 'cause hers has a trunk to hide purse and stuff. So appearance does weigh more in my decision than use, since use isn't really a factor for me.
Sounds like the final answer to the original question should be, do you need secure dry storage or not? If so, get the trunk; if not, and you don't like how a trunk looks, get a seat bag.

I'd go with the trunk, it's easy to remove anyway. I use my scoot mainly for groceries. i have another scoot or motorcycle, where I do my trips with.
