This morning on the way to work, of course I had to stop at the light at the bottom of a large hill. Behind me I thought was a sport bike. Light turns green, I'm WOT to climb the hill, manage about 38 or 40 until I crest.
Meanwhile, the PCX pulls into the other lane, where I see it is a PCX and not a sport bike- and flies by as if I were parked.
Stopped at the next light where he was in the left turn lane and I was going forward. He didn't even look my way.

They are tame compared to the Aprilia 250 which costs less for almost twice the bike.
BTW: I'll wave as I blast past you unless I am just lost in the moment and motoring along. Motorcyclists that I ride with claim I really have at least a 500cc and that I put 250cc emblems on the bike to confuse them.

Lol!
I'm pretty content with my 50cc, but I still believe that they should up the limit to 75cc. With 75cc you'll get normal acceleration and great top speed (probably just over 50MPH); while still having near to 100MPG.
You really need to tune the heck out of a 50cc (4stroke) to be able to keep up with start-stop traffic.

It won't change the bike to near to 25 hp and give it an 11.1 compression ratio breathing through a 4 valve head allowing it to hit upwards of  mph gps on the highway. I feel I got my $2,999 worth riding off the dealers lot with the bike running as I wanted with no need for modifications. That is why many of the cruiser riders that I go on outings with spread the rumor that my bike is not actually a 250 and that I really have a 500 in it. Makes the comparative performance of their bikes more acceptable I guess. |

The point of the 50cc limitation is to have a class of bike that is slow enough for riding on 35 mph side streets and slower roads that does not require a motorcycle license to ride. You want to go over 35 mph they have that covered, you get a motorcycle license, registration and liability insurance or maintain proof of financial responsibility then you are good to ride over 35 mph. |

With some of the posts here you'd think hondas/yamahas/vepas cost the same as a Ferrari for the way everyone reacts about it. |

They should make more engine sizes between 50cc and 150cc!
Those 125cc bikes can be fuel savers @ nearly 100MPG!
The 35MPH limitation may be good in the city, but in the suburbs, you really need something that can go 45MPH. No roads going <40MPH, unless you want to ride from one stop sign to another in residential areas.
For that, if they would raise the 50cc to 63cc, it would give people the chance to go 45MPH (50MPH even), and be safer in suburbs, than when going 30-35MPH. Not to mention have many people aggressive because the scoot takes too long to get upto speed.
A chinese 250cc usually outputs 16-18HP; the BMS260 being different due to it's 'hydraulic valves', which puts it's output to 14,7HP; but regardless of that figure, the bike still can go 80MPH; unlike most chinese 250cc's with 16.6HP that top out at 75+ MPH (usually 78MPH)
