Uhm, so 'digit, just how much did YOU spend, you snob you? spandi, ah but those were VESPA owners, not Piaggio. I was just wanting clarification if you only meant the Vespistas, or all Piaggio-product owners. Which would include rocky too, you know. Is he a "snobby jerk" too? Wait, maybe he is. Granted I'm on the cheap end, but if it were reversed, and I passed him, no matter what brand or origin of our scooters, I am no snob.
It doesn't matter what you ride, just that you ride.
I went to Amerivespa (June 2012 Lake Geneva, WI) on my cheap scoot, and never heard a word against it. But I did get compliments on the style and that it was over 5000 miles.

I take my china scoots on the scooter rides every month at honda with all the souped up ruckuses, aprillas, and zumas they welcomed me in and they stay in touch.

Not snobby but want everyone to know that the Aprilia's when they run a factory event are cost effective bikes that turn out to be very affordable. For only a few hundred dollars more than the local brick and motor cost of a Chinese 250 you can get a fuel injected Aprilia 250 when the factory incentives are running and join me. I'll still wave even if you don't ride a bike from the Piaggio stable. Hey I'll even wave to Harley and Yamasuki riders.
We can also say that people get a bit snooty about safety gear. If it isn't a $500 elite brand helmet on your head then you are looked down upon by the helmet snobs.

I must say that when I ride, I generally get/give a friendly wave to other scooter riders. I sometimes get/give wave with motorcycle riders. But when stopped at a light I generally don't do the eye contact thing with the motorcycle guys. It is a inferiority complex thing. They are usually on some machine going BLAT BLAT BLAT! at the light in jeans and a t shirt and I am the guy in full gear on a scooter, so I keep to myself.
Don't get me wrong, I will take dorky and safe over cool looking, but I know I look dorky. Still would prefer full gear on a Ninja 300. Wife won't have it.

I have done some group rides on my vespa , I do plan to take my Chinese on the next ride . If someone looks down at my Chinese scooter they can bend down and kiss my!@#$%Z^Z .

Some people just wanna pay more on shipping to be cool, and I think you're just that person! I was lucky enough to pay $239 on shipping, so I fall out of the boat of the shipping snobs!  |
