Hello all, I'm pretty sure my scoot needs a valve adjustment, noticed the past few days its beginning hard to start, couple times to crank it and give it some gas, its never been like this, even in the winter. I guess my question is, which size feeler gauges do I need, and what to set the valves at? (sorry I forgot). Its a 150, its the scoot in my sig. below, and all the mods too. Thanks everyone! Randy

.004 on both should do it. Remember, set them on a cold engine ;D

It varies depending on who you ask, but anywhere between .002" and .005". You can usually pick up a whole set for under $5 or if you work in a machine shop or somewhere just grab some feeler stock and use that.

If you go to any auto part store you can get a feeler gauge kit made for valves that has the end bent in order to fit in there for just a few dollars

i like .004 on both but you can do either . also make sure you canot slide the next size up in the gap. for instance if you want th both set at .004 ,make sure the .005 dosent fit the gap after set.

I run .003" on both on my 83cc jonway, seems to be perfect on it.. Not loud, and runs strong.. Just have to tinker and find a happy medium, these motors all have preferences of their own.. My 49cc Baja runs better on .005" on both.. and they pretty much have the same engine.

[replyingto=doublert]doublert[/replyingto][replyingto=doublert]doublert[/replyingto][replyingto=doublert]doublert[/replyingto]Well, going to adjust the valves tonight when it cools down outside. Guess we're gonna make them .004 intake and .004 exhaust. Does that sound about right from what you guys say? My brother says he already knows about the timing on the flywheel, and the holes lining up on the cam chain plate thing. Any other things to check on or adjust?

i originally set both to .005 on my new 150cc. was way too noisy so i reset them to .004 and seems to be good. i'd go with .004 on both.
