I am back and I'm deciding to quit drinking all together. At least for now. I am going to get a work permit so I can drive the scooter to and from the AA meetings and other things to do with work or my Dui's. I got the first one and it was finallized and the other two happened closer to ea other a little later. They merged the last two that happened in my area (Smyrna, ga). So I spent two nights in jail and I'm not going back. That is basically why I've learned my lesson and decided to quite drinking. The judge was also saying I needed to quit. I had a drink the night before my court date and it was brought up during court and they made me take a breathalizer test which luckily came up as 0.00 blood Alcohol content. I didn't realize how serious it is that I don't drink anymore and that they will be administering me random alcohol tests. My probation officer is also baffled that I was drinking the night before. I drink to relax and thought I'd be in jail for a few days so I had a drink. Anyhow, I don't want to violate my probation and wind back in jail. It's seriously the most uncomfortable place to be for me. BTW I did not get the dui's on the scooter . The reason I'm a full time scooter rider is due to selling my car due to fee's.

You really don't want this to escalate to the next level. Be firm with that resolve and don't let old aquaintances peer pressure you into back sliding. I was a consultant with the county and state correctional facilities for a while and count your blessings nobody did anything that triggered a cavity search while you were there. When a man with a shotgun tells you to put your feet on the footprints facing the wall, loosen your pants and lean on the handprints on the wall then give up all hope and try not to scream too loud the first time. If you are polite they will more likely go easy on you. I was really glad that I was on the right side of the wall when that happened and was neither the recipient nor the guy wearing the gloves doing the searches. That alone is enough reason to behave for me. Found out later that even the consultants if in the wrong place at the wrong time could also be searched in a similar fashion. I am no longer in that business any more.

WELCOME BACK DOM'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds like you got scared straight. I second rocky--do NOT allow yourself to be pressured into drinking. Anybody who tries to convince you "Ah come on man, it's just one drink" isn't really your friend. A friend will be helping and supporting you in this. Good for you, hon'. And so glad you're back--your fun has been missed. >'Kat

Then you don't want one from a shaved gorilla who is upset that he got stuck doing the exams again and is only getting paid a fraction of what a doctor gets.

Yeah, uh, rocky, doesn't sound fun. Dom, you keep remembering how good it feels to be free. Whenever you're tempted, remember it. "Hm. Would I rather drink, or stay free?" We don't want to lose you again. >'Kat

Kat - Free is much more fun than jail. Remember too that anything not wearing a guards uniform caught running or even walking too fast gets shot at.

Dom--- take it day by day. Wow, I quit drinking for 1 1/2 years, and it wasn't easy. I had to take classes for it, and, it kinda helped. It's hard to do when everyone is in your face with it, and it's in nearly every store. Same with smoking.

If you truly want to quit, you need to find motivation too. Evidently, me laying in my bed with cancer isn't enough to quit smoking, but going back to jail for something stupid with drinking was.

You say you drink to relax. Yes, times are stressful everywhere but getting to the root cause of your stress and why you need to relax is important and then you can go about reducing stress and learning new positive behaviors to replace drinking.
There are so many ways to relax, you can start with turning off the TV, loud music; just reading a book works. Getting centered again is putting 'you' first.
I don't covet alcohol and have many times left plenty in my glass. It has absolutely no value to me, never has.
Best of luck to you and thank you for your willingness to share your experience.
