I'd go with the red one. Not having a scooter the same color as the pavement is good. One of the reasons I will never own another grey/silver bike... What kind of reasoning is that? Having the same color as the pavement is actually bad, drivers will see you less. I choose color basically on temperature. Here in S-Florida, it's better to get a white bike, because it's too hot. You don't want a black bike, attracting heat. If you're living in some places where you have a lot of fog, you don't want a white, grey, or silver bike; but one with bright colors like red, orange, green, or purple or pink or something... If you live in a very cold area, you might actually like a black bike, as it attracts more heat, and is easier to start, and feels better than a white bike that reflects all the light. If you're living in a farmland, and ride around green farmfields a lot, you may want a red bike, or something that stands out. That's my opinion about it.

I said the red is better and choosing a scooter not the same color of the pavement is good. I will never own another gray bike. Not sure how you got anything else. Besides green and white bikes are the coolest.
Makes me wonder about the conclusions you draw from your other research. Read that post you quoted again maybe read it outloud

No problem. I have deleted posts that I have realized were wrong.

Interesting, I don't usually give much thought to the color of my vehicles actually. My Ninja 500 was silver, which I had always heard (along with white) was considered about the "safest" color for CARS. But I had a lady pull out and t-bone me at low speed on it, she claims she looked but didnt see (or hear 500cc's downshifting?!?!) me... honestly I gathered she was distracted and would have pulled out even if I was in an 18-wheeler though. Never had a problem on my orange Tao Tao (other than cagers occasionally being intentional a$$hats)
I've never owned a red car because they supposedly get ticketed for speeding the most, partially credible to basic physics - something about how the eye differentiates light waves and that the frequency of red light waves appear to be moving faster when in motion towards you (or something along those lines, I think blue is the opposite effect).
Regardless, I think the newer red one might be a better deal overall as long as it hadn't sat unused for too long and deteriorated something. I actually read of someone having their odometer reset on one of these exact scooters, so the 108mi may not be actual. Plus it sounds like I have a better shot at meeting up and buying that one, the other one will likely sell ( / sold) fast at that price. The seller of the red scooter stated openness to negotiation on the price as well.
I'll just have to see how it plays out. Next week is shaping up to finally be dry, warm, and sunny weather so I'm eager to find and ride away with the scooter of my dreams in time ;D (but I know better than to rush into a large purchase/investment)

Check the scooters scrolling by in the members' scooters banner on top. You see many different colors up there. Do you see one that seems to "pop" out more than the others?

Hahaha good point, yellow really does POP out, I mean I honestly just tried to glance at the banner using peripheral vision and those are the ones you really notice.

The yellow one indeed. However, in a sandy/desert area, it might actually be less visible.

Got a call back within 10 minutes on an older '04 Derbi GP1 liquid-cooled. Price could use some work but if it's in great shape I just might swing it. Going to go take a look at it this afternoon. With that kind of low mileage, the guy did confirm it sat for a while a few years ago but he has been riding it regularly lately. Just had the oil injection pump replaced not too long ago. raleigh.craigslist.org/mcy/3798490879.html

2 strokes are getting harder and harder to find. You should get one while you still can. Color aint important as they can be repainted to any color you like.

Just keep in mind the TGB is no longer imported to the USA anymore. Perirspeed/Cobra Sales had a argument over pricing & that TGB kept saying they were going to create their own dealer network. TGB is a solid scooter, no doubt. One thing I always disliked about them is their cheap looking speedo cluster. You can still find parts just the same. I owned a TGB Key West (Zuma knock-off 50cc 2T) & had it derestricted & it would cruise @ 45MPH all day long on a flat surface. www.peirspeed.com/keywest.htm

Never heard back about either of the TGB's, would have loved the opportunity to buy one but I met up and test rode the Derbi today. It's a peppy little guy, I wasn't blown away by the speed but it has a very solid feel and rides extremely well on the 13" wheels and dual disc brakes. I think with some tuning and maybe a couple parts it has serious potential. Sporty well-built 2-strokes are really hard to find, I had no hesitation to pull the trigger on it for $1400. I've got to get a ride up there to pick it up, we're shooting for Monday at latest. Can't wait ;D
