Bought a 49cc scooter for $200 and the Florida DMV hammers me for $171.40 for tax, title and registration. Good thing I wasn't planning on flipping the scooter or I would be losing serious money.

Somebody's gotta pay for them Sr's to enjoy the sunshine. And, BTW, how much State Sales Tax does one pay in Fla?
Just enjoy the ride

My annual renewal is a bit over $100.00 for a 150cc but I don't think calif cares about the displacement.

And, BTW, how much State Sales Tax does one pay in Fla? Depends on the county. In Alachua county where I am it's 6%. When I lived in Escambia county it was 7% and in Bay County it's 7.5% edit: and I see OP lives in Bay County

is that a one time fee? or are you going to be hit with more fees next year?
if we didn't live in a system where money is created from debt things would be so much different. the amount of money that goes to numerous taxes and fees is completely unjustified. hope it was worth it.

It cost my 150cc about that when i first registered it in Florida. I bought mine online and did not pay any taxes online so i had to pay them at the tax collectors office. i paid $1,200 for mine and didnt feel like paying alot for taxes so i scanned the bill of sale and changed the amount to $100.00 and only had to pay $7.00 in taxes lol. (yes i know its bad) but yea for the tag and title and all that sounds about right.

It does sound about right. I don't think FL cares about engine size either. It was about $180 for my 150cc I believe. Ramblinman, most of them are one time fees. The tag fee is the one you have to pay every year and in FL it's around $60 for one year. I think if you opt for the 2 year you get a small discount. I think about $10 or $15 off the total.

Mine were 180 bucks for reg, transfer and tax. I paid 500 for the scoot. In california, you have to be carefull on craigslist. Fees can add up to more then a scooter is worth, if the registration is overdue.

Good thing it's not a car here in Michigan. Plate cost is derived from the current selling price of your car. Our 2002 PT Cruiser plate $140.00 per year. If you have a 10 yo car that cost $12,000 back then..and now sells for $18,000...it is based on the new cost. I almost blew a gasket after paying them..but...a lady in line next to me bought tags for her Cadillac Escalade...$328.00...'cha ching!'...gone is that huge chunk of change lady..kiss next months groceries goodbye... They say the money goes for the roads..but if any of you have driven on Michigan roads...you will know..that in just a 5 mile drive....you can use a whole tank of gas just driving around pot holes and sink holes. So somebodies wallet is getting fat...and it isn't the State Road Commission..
