You're correct. I'm not sure what redroush00 is riding but if it's a 49cc then he will be getting some tickets in his near future. I pass by 7 or 8 scooter rental places every day and they have tags on everything. |

I think i didnt realize i have a "moped" not a scooter...wonder why that cop didnt give me a ticket when i got hit?

On the bright side for us way up here. You pay tax one time..6% of the purchase price. Then $15 for a decal (your tag)l that is good 3 years. After that it is just $15 every 3 years. But don't worry..they make that money up every year when you get car tags or renew you DL...big bucks then...

I thought Virginia was bad. $10 title fee costs $50 with taxes. $30 a year for my 150cc same as my car on registration Taxes are $4 per 100 per year. So my scooter they value at $900 and they charged me $8 for this year. It would have been $36.72 for taxes but that got a 100% car tax credit. So all I had to pay was $8 city license fee. My car they valued at 4000 and I paid $  but they decreased the original tax amount it was $165. Insurance I pay $75 a year on scooter and $600 a year no accidents or tickets. If I lived in Florida I'd consider moving if taxes are that costly. But then again its nicer weather and hurricanes during season. |

I dont have pedals...I think they refer to those stand up scooters as scooters. Anything with a seat has to be registered.

Yup, and they recently raised the cc limit to 100 from 50 to qualify for the tag.
No plate, insurance or endorsement needed to ride. However, with the tag, the legal speed limit for the scoot is still 30mph. Doing 30 around here will get you run over. Luckily the cops don't seem to strictly enforce it.
And as for car insurance in Michigan, don't forget we are THE ONLY FREAKIN' STATE to have unlimited lifetime medical care for auto-related injuries.
This additional fee goes from $175 to $186 per year per vehicle on July 1st.
Incredible.

Well my state of Georgia just changed the law as of march 31. If you buy any vehicle after this date, You will pay 6.5% of what the state says is fair market value tax. It took 5 days for the state to figure out what fair market value was for my used 2009 cf moto fashion    title fee 18.00 tag fee 20.00 fair market value tax 149.50 Thank God this is a 1 time tax. I feel sorry for the people who pay 2 or 3 thousand for vehicle to find the state says fair market value is 6,7,8 or 9 thousand. O-boy Ga. tag offices all need a 55 Gal. barrel of fair market value tax lube at front door...   Dave |

That's just crazy. What did they say the fair market value of your scooter was? Also, what kind do you ride?
