I had a cop do something like this to me. I then went to police headquarters and filed a complaint with his watch commander. A few days later I received a call from his C/O (We talked for about half an hour.) and a few days after that I received a letter of apology from the chief of police. (btw, cops aren't ALWAYS right, I went to court over tickets 4 times, WON 4 times.) Spandi esq?--Hahahah!

1. Have a gps that does logging. Produce the log for court. opps you don't have that. Oh, you didn't get a ticket "lucky Dawg" 2. Get the permit and go to court they will let you off. Done Deal. if not appeal it up. Cops have it Rough. They are like the Trash People, having to deal with societies Trash. So it is not what it seems. Not like you think,, It is like what he thinks. It's thinking man. The Judge thinks way different. He was a lawyer befor he was a Judge and he knows all the ins and outs of the Bizzness. They also know you weakness. your EGO. you need to switch it off because they feed on it. It will get you in more trouble in life that you are aware of. Beware of yourself. Don't get caught Yogi Bear knows. It's not as bad as you think. It's worse LOL In VA you get "caught going over 35",, key work CAUGHT,, this is from the Commonwealth's Attorney in Gloucerter County,, he said "DON'T GET CAUGHT " If then you are on a motorcycle. You get hit with 1 no insurance. 2 no License class Motorcycle. 3 no tags no instection etc etc etc You Get the Idea. So you didn't know about the permit,, So now you do. That's your Out. The Judge will see you were non-compliant and got the permit and are compliant you walk. PS don't take a hand gun to Court. Gloucester,VA?...used to live over there when I was stationed at NWS Yorktown,Va. Hunted and fished in Matthews and did lots of crab catching at Gloucester point! Hey send me a bushel of those tasty lil Blue Crabs!! ;D @ DaveC "Stop enuf people for any reason and eventually they'll find something" EXACTLY what they do in this town...stop literally EVERY scooter. Why? DUI folks think they can be sneaky and ride..when the laws says no! after a DUI...the folks think a scoot would be less suspicious to pull over maybe? Also there is a big Meth area..several in fact all over the town out skirts. The kids got wise and realized a 19 yo driving a Lexxus or H3 WAS suspicious....and why they got caught...so now they use scoots to sell and deliver. So..ok I do understand the Officers reason everyone on a scoot.. BUT when they find you are not a DUI or Meth transporter... they do look for something...anything. My scoot has dual headlights..it was about 1:30 in the afternoon. One bulb was out and I told him I knew and that a part was on order from Parts For Scooters and would be here tomorrow or the next day. He said.."Well it isn't here now is it?" That was a $75 ticket. But that is what they do...collect revenue. Cause when I ran a scooter shop..I had 5 new scoots stolen in 18 months..not one was investigated. One State Trooper that showed up..took the report and passed it down to the county level...then told me.."The county won't look for them or investigate this Sir...it costs them money to do so...Don't get your hopes up of getting them back..and sorry that is just the way it is Sir" Never did get them back..but did find one in a guys yard so I ran home got the MCO for it..matched the VIN..called and was told to get away and give the Officer about 10-15 mins to get there.30 mins..didn't show..I call again and was told she will get somebody there..that one was about 20 mins out of town.20,30,45 mins go by...nobody.I call dispatch back and say "Look man..it's mine..color matches..ignition is punched out but my keys match the trunk and the VIN is dead on!" Was told to depart the property and if I took the scoot I could be prosecuted for Trespassing. ?? I told her car dealerships repo cars all the time...just swoop in if you are home or not..'Hook 'n Haul'..they're gone. Was told this was different. On a good note...I was clocked at 51 on my first BBK hi po part loaded project scoot. Officer said how fast I was going...asked me what I did to get it that fast..as his son rides one to College at with his top speed of 31 on a 55mph road it was unsafe. Said he wished they would lift the 30mph scoot law because it would be safer for folks on main roads...those pulling into traffic and when you are going 30 and a car crests the hill at 55-60 BOOM! they are right on you and did not know you were there because the hill blocked their view of the other side. At least be able to go closer to the speed of traffic than 30mph. Told him I worked on scoots and would do it free if he just pay for the parts(Hey ya gotta kiss a lil butt sometimes ya know) ;D He and his son were both happy..honked and waived everytime they saw me after that..

I used to be Military Police. My cert just ran out for radar, but I spent a few days in class to learn how to use it correctly. When used, it sends out a sonar wave in a huge "triangle" shape in front of you. True, it will pick up the largest object moving towards you or away (depending on what mode your using). On your radar when you clock someone speeding, your supposed to lock it in. When you do that it freezes the speed they clocked you at. Your supposed to do that so you can show the person before writing them a ticket. If you don't do that, they always told us it's your word VS there's. So, he might not have locked your speed in. Also, if you do get a ticket and think your getting a BS ticket, take it to court. Sometime the cops are so busy with other things they can't show up.

Did they also teach you about the audio verification? This is a tone that changes with the speed reading, and used to be required so that you can verify you are targeting the correct object. It is a high pitched whine and most police turn it off or don't use the ear piece, because it is annoying. A lot of radar guns have an auto lock feature that will automatically lock a reading over a preset number. Roy

It's like a beeping sound. gets louder and faster the higher speed whatever your tracking is moving at. Your also right about people turning it off or down because its annoying as lol. I turned it down but never off.

Moped license has been out 27 years ago in SC . Do you not have that ? The police are cracking down on those with a moped tag that go over 30 MPH as to why my 2T is tagged . In SC the court policy is " guilty until paid innocent " I had a ( censored ) pig pull me over saying I ran a red light which I did not . Told the judge I was innocent as asked to see the evidence . Pig had none nor no witnesses and Booss Hogg still found me guilty . I am filling a complaint with SLED , bar association and filling a civil lawsuit against both of the FOS (censored ) in the city of Greer you only have 5 days to appeal a BS conviction . I had a perfect 10 year DVR with not a citation .
You can also do this say you have to make 2 payments if guilty . Send in the second payment a check for 1 dollar over it . They half to mail you a check for the extra dollar . Do not cash it so it will stay pending until the check is cashed .
If you can your motorcycle license as it is so easy and driving test is a snap

Well this morning I had to go to the store.. When I pulled into the store, I got off my scooter. turned around and took off my helmet just as one of South Carolina's finest State Trooper's was pulling in behind me with his lights blinking... hmm I thought... well the guy jumps out of his car and says he clocked me doing 58 MPH!!! he then went to tell me that I was the only vehicle anywhere near where he was running his radar. Well I told him that there is no way in that my 49cc scooter was doing 58 MPH, and then he threatened to take me to jail! I wasnt being rude or mean or loud or anything! I even told him that my speedometer wont even hit 50 unless I am down a HUGE hill. Is it possible that I was going that fast??? I know what 58 feels like I used to have a 150. I bought this scooter used 2 months ago. And granted it is very fast for a 50, ( I havent seen a 50cc yet that can keep up) but I don t think there is any way in I was doing 58 . Not even going downhill. So . was his radar lying or was he lying? hmmm damn prick.. Still trying to wrap my head around that one...58mph on a 50cc scoot? I have a high end aluminum race big bore kit...72cc..performance oversized CVT with KOSO slider weights...tuned pipe and about $300 in other 'go fast' racing parts just to get mine to hit 55-58mph....and then it is screaming! So 58mph on a 50cc? He must be nuts. Ok off a cliff yes...since Terminal Velocity is about 120mph...at least it was for my 150lb body when I used to jump out of planes and helicopters..in the military.. ;D

carasdad ... "he must be nuts" Thats my whole point exactly! Im not mad about the ticket because hes right, I shouldve had the permit.. but when he threatened to put me in jail because I told him there was no way in my scooter was going that fast.... thats what kinda pissed me off... there was an Easley city cop who walked up to see what was going on, and when the trooper left he told me, I didnt do anything wrong, I was being very friendly and respectful, and that he knows that trooper and he is a super , always on a power trip and he was surprised that I only got one ticket.

Get a radar detector and a cig lighter to your scooter. Good thousand feet of distance before it goes off.
Sounds like the guy just had it in for you. Seems like another power tripping high strung copper.

I say pay your fine and lump it. When the cop put on that uniform they are god and can just about do anything they want and far as any road rules go and you can't do a thing about it. The court is going to side with the police unless you invest big money in a lawyer. It s just cheaper and less stress to pay the fine, forget about it.

Cops got to have a good reason to pull you over.
For instance if you had a dead body in your trunk (car) and they didn't have probable cause, then the case of you murdering that dead body will not go through in court.
At least that's what I have heard a few times from different people.

At least that's what I have heard a few times from different people. Yes, they 'need' a reason to stop you. And, they will come up with one. I got stopped in the middle of nowhere Colorado at 3AM coming back from Tx, wit the wife and dog. He said I didn't signal when the 2 lane road merged into a one lane road. He had me outa the car, ran my licence, checked the car, and reluctantly let me go. I was told tht they can find anything if they want. OOPSS Forgot about this one: Got stopped for not using my blinker when pulling away from the curb. Got stopped for being in a known drug area. (which can be anywhere now days.) This was on Colfax AVe in Denver, the MAIN STREET from one end of town to the other. It's a main thruway. Got stopped for my lic plate light flashing (loose connection) After seeing I was old and crippled, he let me go. So, Yea, the supposedly need a reason, and they'll come up with something.
