Thanks everyone! Especially Alleypoop.. Youre the only one who actually understood what I need to know and answered it lol... as for the others.. No offense intended, I appreciate the effort. But no I havent struggled with this nut yet. The one I was talking about was on an old scooter that I had tried to cannibalize parts off of a few months ago. I am DEFINETLY going to check about that tool rental from auto zone, because I am one broke white boy at this moment!

Could someone please advise me as to whether or not I have to change out the spring (Contra-Spring?) as well... Or does it come with a new clutch when you buy one??? Or can I just change the clutch by itself, and not even have to mess with all that? Thanks for any help/advice.

I finally have a good excuse to take it all apart and put in these 6g slider weights I have had for like 2 years now, but never used

omg! I totally forgot about the damn weights flipping around when you break A belt! this happened before, I should have damn knew that... but no, the belt didnt break my clutch, it has been on the verge on death for a while now, it was already broke in a place and has been vibrating for a couple months now, I guess it finally decided to fall apart.. Im not really sure what caused the belt to break however...

ok, I am just freaking out because of that one I tried to take off before didnt work... I held the brake as hard as I could and if I tried with all my might, it would just spin the wheel, and the nut never came off... Like I said, I literally bent the rim all to trying to get that damn nut off, and its still on there lol.. It wasnt from lack of force let me tell you. But im just worried, that afte rI change the clutch... will it change ratios then? I mean the spring doesnt seem broke or anything... is that all connected with a new clutch??? does it come with all that?? or does it stay in there and I just use it again?

WELL I snapped a belt today, after I changed the belt, It will not change drive ratios anymore, after I took the cover back off, I seen that my clutch is in pieces. the metal part of two of the pads completely broke in half.. so.... Im guessing I need to replace the clutch??? is that all?? what do I need to get, and how crazy is it to do by myself.. im am pretty knowledgable, but I havent done this actually before... I tried to take a clutch off of an old scooter once before, and it was damn impossible to get the nut off of the bell housing.I mean I even went so far as to jam a metal bar in the rear wheel to stop it from moving, and all it did was bend the damn rim and the nut STILL never even budged! ... HELP!! Hopefully this one wont be like that right?!?! this is my only transportation! and I need it to get to work!

Doesn't matter if its hard on that gearbox because its an old parts scooter that doesn't run anyway... but yea, i don't understand it either.. I don't know why or what it was moving.. the wheel was locked tight, but I would like put all my strength into it and it would start spinning around ... like the whole clutch would move. but that ....... nut would NOT come off!!! I put so much force into it that the rim got bent on the wheel!! I just damn gave up. And I don't have "Spanner Tool" or whatever you called it.. damn I wish I did, it would make things so much easier for me. I am worried that when I try to take this one off that it will do the same thing and then I will screw my scooter up and be rideless.

well son of a ! well I went to my old scooter, and I tried to pull off the clutch and put it on my new(er) scooter. I cant get the damn thing off! There isnt a belt on this thing, so I just stuck a metal bar through the holes in the wheel so that it wont spin when I try to take the nut off the housing. well that was a pain in the damn in itself let me tell you. But anyway, after forever I finally got it to where the tire wont spin, but I damn near strain, and instead of the nut coming off, the whole thing starts spinning... ?!?! HOW THE DO I GET THIS THING OFF!!!! can anything EVER go right for me ?!?!

The belt isnt too long, It's the exact same belt that goes on nearly all 50cc GY6's lol.. But yea, im gonna try and make it until next pay day, and then im gonna take it all off and check it all out and lube what needs it and replace what ned's it.. I damn sure need to replace the brake pads, Might aswell do it, while im taking everything apart.

It really wasnt that tight for some reason... the last one I had was though.. I was worried that I was gonna break the belt when I turned it over to get it on (Like a bicycle chain) But this one I basically just did it all by hand without even turning it with a ratchet..

hey thank you guys so much for the advice, It is greatly appreciated.. I didnt take anything off to replace my belt, I have gotten crafty these last few years with these scooters and I can slip a belt on now, in about 30 seconds without removing anything other than the CVT cover. Its good to know that I will only need to take off that one nut. But its gonna be hard for me, because I dont have the tool to stop everything from spinning when you try to take it off. I took it for a ride this morning, ten miles each way.. I had to, or else I will get fired. It doesnt vibrate too bad unless I get around 8k and above.. Im hoping I an just kinda putt putt around for the next 2 weeks until I get paid again, and then just replace the clutch. Im thinking for some reason, when I grabbed the tensioner and pulled it open when I put the new belt on, for some reason that piece broke.. looking at that picture, it must have been the piece of metal attached to the clutch itself, and not the pad. I put ALOT of miles on this scooter. average around 200 to 250 miles a week! I bought it about 2 months ago used off craigslist, the speedometer and odometer hasnt worked in who knows how long, so there is no telling how many miles are truly on this scooter. But im positive that in those two months, I have come very close to if not, have drove it 2000 miles. I love my communist scooters! I always drive the everliving out of mine lol.

ok, yesterday, I stopped at a red light, when I went to take off I heard the belt squeal.. So Obviously its time for a new belt. well I have two extra's one is basically brand new that I took off my old scooter. I had just put it on two weeks before the engine blew.. I put it on first, after I put it on, I went for a cruise and I had great acceleration, but the CVT never changed ratios, so it just would out and barely had any speed.. hmm I thought. Well I took off the cover and noticed a piece of metal was wedged in between the clutch and spring and all that.. I also saw a small spring in the cover that fell off aswell. It looks like the spring was attached to this piece of metal and they broke off somewhere inside the clutch?? I mean I looked inside it and saw two or three other little springs, but I cant see the spot where this one fell off. Well I took it for a ride to see what happens, and it took off great, but it was like it went too far in the gear ratio.. like my engine doesnt have enough power to go that fast. like it was doing like 5k rpm but shouldve been much faster.. does that make sense? so I couldnt really go anywhere because the scooter was too slow now. If it had more power, I estimate this scooter couldve been going 55+ MPH before I wouldve wound it all out... That isnt right. not right at all. So I put the other belt I have on it.. its slightly used from my friends 80cc Honda Elite, but its just fine.. well now I have GREAT acceleration, but when I get close to top speed, I have a pretty bad vibration going in and out coming from the CVT area.. SO what should I do?! should I drive it and just be aggravated by the vibration? how much is a clutch? how hard is it to change? omg. Im so stressed out, this is my only transportation to and from work and everything else! SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP! I know there is a few people on here from Greenville, SC. One of you helped me in the past, but I cant remember his name. I went over to your apartment and we went for a short test ride together after we tried working on it. If someone could help me omg I would be so thankful. .. even a video would help.
