Heys guys\gals, trying to find a wheel chock to put on my trailer so i can haul my scoot that will keep it stationary. theres a ton of them on the web but im not sure how good they actually work with a scoot.
Does anyone have one that they use that can confirm that they do work, and keeps scoot stationary.
Would like to find one under 40 with shipping or even cheaper if possible that will work.
Peace

What I use is just a couple racheting tie downs. Back the scooter onto the trailer and hook up the tie downs to the rear luggage rack, you need something to roll the back wheel up to for a stop. It works very well for me.

Scooters are back heavy so you get a better weight distribution if you back them in so at least 60% of the weight is foward of the trailers axel to help prevent sway. I use the passenger foot pegs to tie down the back. Most luggage racks are only rated for 10 or 20 lbs and could distort when used as tie downs while the foot pegs are each designed to hold the full weight of an adult as the step up on them and over the bike when they mount.
Chocks can be iffy on scooters especially those with 10 inch rims or super wide tires.
The local Harbor Freight, Cycle Gear or equivalent is probably your best bet to checking things out in person to see if they might work for your particular scoot.
Personally I just use the ratchet straps putting an extra set on to check forward and backward movement.

My scooter has 13" rims not sure what the width is. My scoot is a 2012 taotao atm150-a here is one that I'm looking at: compare.ebay.com/like/400310671267?var=lv<yp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbarbasically all the others that ive seen are similar in design, just not sure which one would work the best. Im not traveling far, its just to take it so I can do my cycle road test with and then maybe other short trips I really need to just find a way to take it there but I don't have racks or anything, just a 8ft trailer that I can haul it with. road test place is 30 miles one way and they only do the test at 9am, but I dont want to go that far early in the morning. I would if it was in mid afternoon but my back is stiff as a board in the morning. I have to figure out something cause driving it there is out of the question, I appreciate all of you guys/gals help . peace

The Harbor Freight chock that I use is on sale for $40 right now. If you can scrounge up one of those 20% off coupons, you could get it for $32. I got mine when it was on sale for $25 during one of their parking lot sales. This one works well on my 16" wheels.

Hmmm, the $40 one at HF looks good. Im just wondering if my wheel bolts and stuff will clear it. Heres my scoot: Im not worried about the front fender as that can be removed, but the forks and bolts is what worry's me. that would be great if I could find one of those 20% coupons I guess I will have to do some measuring before I head to harbor freight. peace

Ok I did find that HF has the chock for 39.99 and also I searched for those instant 20% off coupons and found a code that worked, unfortunately its online so I have to pay 7 bucks in shipping errr.
I believe this chock is going to be really handy for me. there was no way I could ride it that early in the morning, my back is just to bad for that.
Haha my back has to be woke up stretched out etc etc etc lol
Thankyou all for your help. God Bless

I ask for the online price in the store. I recently bought a tool cart. List $299. Online deal was $100 (plus nearly 100 for shipping!). In the store it was $150. I asked at the store, and they said absolutely ($100 plus tax)and he helped me lift into the van. Also, I was buying the 11 pound (?) digital scale and since I didn't know I was going to be in the area, I didn't bring the 20% coupon. And again the cashier was nice enough to help me out. I suggested that they either get key chain cards or better yet let us sign in like Walgreen's with a number so we don't have to kill trees to save a few bucks.

The back end of that chock has 3 different locations to bolt it on, so there is some adjustment room there. And, if your forks don't fit with the wheel all the way forward, you could make a bumper to put on the front rail to hold the wheel back a little further where the rail is lower. Here's a photo of one of those modifications I found on the internet:

Ah, thats a good idea never thought about modding it like that. I will have to do that if it dont fit.
As far as getting online price i may try that on something else cause i purchased the one online already.

well I got the wheel choke from HF, and my wheel goes in it but the part that swings up to lock the wheel in the back is to long.
The bottom of the scooter, the part behind the wheel is preventing it from swinging up, so not really sure what to do other than making me a wheel chock from wood, or modding the heck out of the chock I just paid 42 bucks for.
I think I will trying and take it back to the local HF, and hopefully that will take it seeing how I purchased at the on-line HF. I really don't feel like destroying the chock to make it work.
Any suggestions on making a chock that will not let the scooter tip over?
I'm figuring maybe use 2x4's and/or 4x4's, I had thought of also maybe welding some steel together also as I have a Hobart 140 MiG welder, its not a high powered welder but it would work for what I would need.
Peace
