I have to say, the trimmed rear does look more sporty. As far as the nose goes, that's how you know it is a Honda Elite I like that the Elites basically look like a Honda Ruckus when all the plastics are removed, although a lot more ratty.

Thanks, rockynv. I might just bring the lock down to Lowe's and see if they have anything that matches up. Seeing as they are less thann $10, it might be cheaper than trying to salvage the orginal lock. oldchopperguy - The FA50 has its tail lights placed at the tip of the luggage rack, so the lock box doesn't overshadow my lights too much, but I was definitely thinking about your light strip mod when I got this. The trunk doesn't have any lighting of its own, so I would have to find some way to get it wired up. Unless I can just use a wireless kit like this one for a helmet www.amazon.com/Motorcycle-Helmet-Signal-Harley-Suzuki/dp/B00KAR14QW/The mouse looks sharp with the top case and saddle bags btw :-).

I just got a great deal for a top box. Found it at a yard sale for $8. Appears to be a TMS XL www.amazon.com/Large-Motorcycle-Scooter-Luggage-Helmets/dp/B006THWK06It is pretty huge. Holds two full face helmets. A customer image shows it mounted to a Yamaha Majesty, and it looks oversized on that. I can imagine how it is going to look on my tiny moped (I call it my badonka-trunk) Will be great for grocery store runs, or camping! Only issue is that they didn't have the key for it. The lock mechanism can be removed though. An ebay search is showing some pretty cheap replacements. I figured I'd post here before buying anything though. Is there anything I should look for when finding a replacement? Rust proof materials, search terms to include to find a better match?

This was hard to watch. A woman falls asleep and brushes up against an oncoming semi. She wasn't even wearing a helmet. Fortunately, it looks like she escaped with a bit of road rash.
This is another video I came across and wanted to share.
This guy is like the polar opposite to the woman in the first vid. Alert and wearing all the gear. Didn't stop a car from running a red light and taking his bike out from under him (he seems fine, but his bike is smashed)... I'd like to think about what to do in a situation like that.
The mistakes in the first video are obvious, but is there anything the guy in the second video could have done differently to avoid the collision?

Last time I was picking up a part at my local dealership, I noticed a new Honda scooter there. It looks a little different. The style made me think of a maxi scooter that had been squashed back to more of a standard length. The visuals (which honestly didn't grab me) weren't really the thing that struck me, though. The scooter had a large chart next to it comparing different scooters and their fuel economy and this thing gets around 100 mpg! www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/honda/pcx150Granted, this is limited to the confines of a 153cc engine but that sounds really good! Top speed is around 65mph, I think. This is a video review I found on YouTube This seems like a really good scoot for $3,500. Has anyone heard much about these?

That's a coincidence. I've been trying to get some good moon shots with my camera lately (I think there's an unwritten rule that once you get a camera that can adjust the exposure and aperature, you gotta photograph the moon). I will be sure to keep a look out for the eclipse tonight!

Then there come those days when you ride with someone on something like a big Goldwing and leave them behind in traffic with dark storm clouds looming behind because his bike is too heavy and cumbersome to deal with the traffic so he gets soaked (crying "It's Electric!" the whole time as steely bolts of lighting are striking around him) while you stay ahead and dry which makes you glad you still have what you got. Wow, true story? You guys are really selling me on the Itallian bikes. As far as maxi scooters go, I think I would be doing more inner-city and parking lot riding than anything... And thinking about something small, agile, and zippy does make me feel all tingly inside. Maybe I need something more practical. I'm sure the tighter handling would be safer in an emergency. So there's no reason a smaller 200 or 250 can't make a run across the state? Sent from my TotoTV Stick using Tapatalk

Nice! I will have to keep that in mind. I probably won't be able to afford the upgrade until next summer, but I've set my Craigslist app to notify me of any Piaggio, SYM, or Aprilia scoots that pop up under $2,000.
Any others I should add to my list?

@kat - My little 50cc isn't running now (I did something with the carbeurator), but I will have to get a photo sometime. I might have to go sans-helmet, but I will wear my boots. I got the suit on Amazon if you are interested (The Godzilla/dinosaur suit was one of the manlier models, lol): www.amazon.com/gp/product//B00GICLT3G/They are Chinese imports, so the shipping takes about two weeks to a month. The sizing isn't normal for the US, but you can find out the actual sizing in the description. @leo - Yeah, maybe I should give handling more of a consideration. Going from my moped to a maxi is a big jump. Perhaps I should go with something more nimble and see if I still want to go bigger. rockynv - If I can find something comparable to a 250cc Vespa in the $2,000 range. That'd be a great deal. A quick search on Craigslist pulled up this guy... eugene.craigslist.org/mcy/4691264584.htmlAprilia Scarabeo 200 - $2,000 Would a 200cc work for freeway use and long trips? Say, somewhere up to 300 miles?

For different sized jets, you might try your local Yamaha dealership. I read that dealerships should have a range of jets to try. I found the torque information for my scoot in the service manual. Maybe there's a PDF service manual for the Vino 150.
Sorry if this advice is basic. I'm pretty new to scoots. I hope this helps.

His profile shows he leaves a confrontational response to every negative or neutral feedback. Like every negative reviewer snuck into his back yard and left a dook in his lawn, then smashed all of his gnomes on the way out. I might have to take a look at seller's responses in the future.
Can you dispute this somehow for a refund?

I'm looking to save up for something 250cc. Something that will take me around town but can also do long trips across the state. I've seen RV250's pop up on Craigslist for around $2000 and from what I've read, they seem like they would be quality bikes, but a friend of mine said he used to own one and couldn't find a replacement oil filter anywhere and to stay away from chinese bikes... Could he be thinking of a different scooter? SYM is a Taiwanese company, same as Kymco, right? Are parts hard to find for SYM scoots? On the other hand, I've also seen old 80's Honda Elite 250's pop up for $1000 or less. They don't really catch my eye in photos. Kind of a funky mess of awkward angles (like those Scion refridgerator boxes that mascarade as cars) but seeing one in person, it isn't bad... I feel a similar way about the Yamaha Zuma 150. In photos it looks alright, but in person it is a tank of a scooter. Big old chunky monkey. Ride that chunky monkey! It looks like a load of fun... But it doesn't go fast enough for freeway use. But anyways, should I go for the SYM or could I save a few bucks and get something like the Elite250 and get along just as well? Oh, and this is an image for Kat. (not exactly a banana suit, but it had to do)
