you all know about this? if you like this sort of thing, it's going to be GREAT provided you can stay up all night, even to watch it is a lifetime event. I've seen a few, never any real success in getting a decent pix. this time i'm taking TWO tripods, one for stills and another for time-lapse now the question is will it be a clear, cloudy and/or foggy night? there's FOG today in SF Bay just type in your city/location to see if you'll see a partial or total eclipse; also works for international locations too. if your city is so small it doesnt display, just type in the nearest big city. www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/in/usa/san-franciscoGOOD LUCK y'all

That's a coincidence. I've been trying to get some good moon shots with my camera lately (I think there's an unwritten rule that once you get a camera that can adjust the exposure and aperature, you gotta photograph the moon). I will be sure to keep a look out for the eclipse tonight!

Skunk Shampoo good luck!! i remember while living in Eugene many moons ago, I tried many times and the problem is same as in SF: clouds! right now it's slightly overcast. but think i MIGHT have a chance. the time lapse has a chance of being MUCH better than pixs, though the battery will die after 3 hrs

I was very under impressed. But then I'm probably not in the best location. Oh well, life goes on.

Thanks for letting us know. Mom and I had a fun time going out and checking on the moon. And taking pics with my 500mm (or in her case, viewing my camera's screen for the close-up).
I would've totally missed this if you hadn't posted!

SylvreKat richardv thanks everyone. in previous similar events i have had LOUSY luck and this time wasnt different at all. to make matters worst, i arrived bored four hours EARLY. all foggy and cloudy BUT moon could be seen. forecast clearing at 1am was VERY accurate and could see eclipse very well. was cold and windy all the time i was out - should've taken my 500mm so i could at least get some decent pixs. oh well. only happy to get the word out!!
