I think a tube PVC, maybe reduced a little - with a simple manometer could give an idea of intake airflow. It doesn't need accuracy, it just needs to be able to show a difference. I may see if I can wiggle a Bar-B-Que thermometer into the plastics. The probe is a little large. Oh - my multimeter has a thermo-whatchamacallit that would work. I just need the different fan to test. COUPLE -thermocouple. you must've had a brain cramp cuz you said manometer, but forgot how to say thermocouple let us know the temp difference

Has Anyone had a problem with their scooter suddenly eating CDI boxes? Mine has ruined three so far . they start and run fine, but then Quit.Anybody have the wiring diagram? its an ac unit. The only thing I can figure is maybe the trigger wire and the power from the stator are somehow reversed in the harness. would it still fire like that?

Thats great info :Dthanks I got the 20 mm from scrappys, but couldnt figure the jet (not marked), So I put in an And Adjusted, and went for a ride. She overheated and wouldnt re start. I pulled the head, and no damage ? i dunno, Maybe valves. I got the head from scrappy also and A9 cam, but the valves are short, so I had to put the lock nuts under the adjuster. Anyway, Im Thinking of getting a Buford head now whadda you think? Im buttoning up the plastics now. I put the original motor back. I can fool around with the hy-perf.while its out BTW, It ran so hot. It wore down the tiny tip of the iridium plug!

The reason I ask this is that i am very happy with the overall performance of my 50cc . It goes 37-40 on flat ground. the only thing that kind of bothers me is like all 50cc scooters, lousy uphill and against the wind. My desire is to be able to do 40 without WOT all the time, and better uphill performance. I do not want a race bike. And i dont much care for the loud mufflers and uni filters. i have the 2 stroke style exhaust with the expansion chamber and a few 3/8" holes on the bottom of the stock airbox. The motor is a Qmb139 with a BBK,A9 Cam 20mm carb koso variator with 5 gram sliders and 16/50 gears. If it" going to be a maintenance hog, I just as soon not use it as a daily driver. I have another scooter I can put it in if it's going to be more of a toy than a dependable motor. What do you think?BTW, I already installed it, and had overheat problems because of a lean mix. So I took it out and put the original back in my scooter is a 2012 with 750 miles on it. I dont want to ruin it,just improve it ;D

I recently built a 50cc with a bbk,and a new bigger carb, variator and gear upgrades. My question is:Are these engines dependable? Or are they super high maintenance, breaking down at the least opportune times, and requiring almost constant attention?

I took out the high performance motor I built, and put the original back in.I need to do some more work on it before i'm happy. Overheated the cylinder yesterday. No dmage though I took the head off to check. The original motor runs like a champ! 37-40 mph no problem smooth and quiet too. Just sucks on hills and against the wind. While I play with the build, I want to be able to ride. So out it came for now.

Thanks guys My problem is the taper locks flying out as it did in the video. Good idea to use the sodket one at a time.I thought of something like an o2 sensor socket. it has a slot for the wire.(too big) Ty wraps are a good idea too, but you're bound to leave some peices in there. I'm gonna try again one at a time I did this a while ago, but I had a set of helping hands

OK, Who's got a good trick for compressing the valves on an 83cc head? I tried with a clamp, and a peice of steel with a hollow in it so i can put on the retainers, but it keeps slipping. I need another hand!! Who's got a trick to share?

if its not a 2-stroke then its robbing power and just get a pod filter and open exhaust then u should be fine if anything air/fuel mix Quite the contrary, Ask Leo (old chopperguy) and a couple of more on this forum who use them. One might think so, but It actuallu=y does help performance. It has something to do with helping to evacuate exhaust fumes from the cylinder. It actually performed better than any 4 stroke I've ever ridden, right from the factory ;D
