Oh it's definitely not hitting,it runs great until i put a load on the motor. I'm going to try to let it breathe more. It definitely has a lot of compression, maybe too much. If I open the throttle just a little bit while cranking, it stops cranking. and thats with a tractor battery 250 cranking amps. Maybe I have tto put the two gaskets back

A diode is a rectifier. A>C or alternating current willgoto12v+andbackto0 and than to12v- or whatever voltage you have. A diode will pass the positive voltage and block the negative. it"s how you make dorect current. to test one just put the red meter lead on one side, and the black on the other (meter in ohms) . If the needle moves, reverse the leads. if it doesn't move its good if it reads both ways its no good.

before I take it back out, I'll try that. I got a box of jets from -105 i think. Ishould be able to find one there. I also have a 20mm carb, but i'd rather not use it. maybe ill try that too thanks.

[replyingto=millsc]millsc[/replyingto]not sure how to do that. I did have two base gaskets, but removed one .remember, i was grttting like 130psi. Maybe my compression tester is no good?

Ok in my last thread, i was happy,-now, not so much. I got the engine rinning, does great on the center stand, not hot, responds crisp tough to start though. When I put it on the ground and try to ride, it starts making sort of a brapping noise.almosy like valves slamming shut! Is this a jetting problem? fyel/air mix? too much compression I need some help here when i twist the throttle on the center stand, i get a couple of clacks, but it revs ,and dissapears. alleyoop, millsc larry--- HELP!! ANYBODY

Got the motor all buttoned up and put it in the scooter.I think it,s gonna be a bear!I had a real hard time to get it to finally fire up. Had to use the battery from the rider mower. sounds great, screams on the stand. I'm charging my battery now, hope it;s enough to fire that puppy. I'll ride it later or tomorrow.heres what I did: qmb 139 scrappydog 50mm BBK & 47mm head with the releif ground in it,Hoca piston 1 base 1 head gasket, A9 cam 18mm carb jet stock airbox 2 stroke style exhaust with expansion chamber, Koso variator with 5 gram sliders, 1500 RPM clutch springs,16/50 gears.

That's what I'm thinking- a 4 stroke. If the cases were split, 1- it probably would'nt hold oil 2- I don't think you could even get the cylinder studs to line up with the cyl. or head. How is it even running?

[replyingto=jr]JR[/replyingto]What does the crankcase have to do with vacuum? I thought that would be a funtion of the cylinder and head (which probably would not even fit or "line-up with the case)? Just asking- Please tell me if i'm thinking wrong or forgetting something

what size motor is it? it goes on the set that you pressed the gear on. You put it in first, between the gearset and the case. Or just put it on the shaft, and then stick the shaft into the bearing.

Yes I do. It goes behind the set that you have to press on. it goes between the case and the gearset. its a spacer.

I opened up the clutch on the motor i'm building. It's a stock qmb 139 from scrappydog. Did a BBk & gears & koso variator too.Anyway the springs that are in the clutch from the factory are way beefier than the koso 1500 I replaced them with. IS THIS NORMAL? I would think the new ones are supposed to be stronger. thus looks the other way around.

Did the carb come from scrappydog too? try the old carb. i had problems with my 20mm from them, so did another member here. Apparently those carbs suck! and I don't mean air ;D

I tried two base gaskets and I felt compression was too low, so I went to 1. this is using a scrappydog jug and 47 mm releif -cut head. I don" see why you would use two unless you have a stock head.any comments? warnings?Millsc , If youre out there, check your pm ;D
