So, a customer brought in his scooter a few days ago (actually a member on here too) He wanted to do the Scrappy Dog gears and a BBK. So I took it in, and what shoulda been a 1-2 day job, turned out to be a nearly 4-5 day job. Got the kit installed, new clutch, new carb, and has the gears. It's also got a straight pipe, (muffler broke off). I set the timing, adjusted valves, carb has a MAIN, new spark plug, etc.... Still can't get it to start, I only get the occasional *pop* from the exhaust when cranking it over WOT and choking it

Did the carb come from scrappydog too? try the old carb. i had problems with my 20mm from them, so did another member here. Apparently those carbs suck! and I don't mean air ;D

No no, it didn't come from them, it's a stock carb, with a Main in it, EDIT: The only thing that came from scrappy is the Gears.

I'd re-check that cam. Also, check to see if the woodruff key sheared. Not a common problem but Ive seen it a couple times in the shop. Once on a build so I went crazy for a couple days knowing I didnt do anything wrong

I'm the customer that brought the Westendscooters the scooter. It's the SUNL SL50QT I made a thread about. The scooter had stalled out completely last week. Apparently, the original carb required a rebuild (out of my expertise level and budget), so I had it replaced with a new stock one. The clutch was definitely in need of replacement. I planned to do a stock replacement with a "red spring" upgrade, but I couldn't find a store that carried 38 or 40mm impact sockets, so I had Westend replace it. Thanks to the horrible conditions of some Richmond streets, the exhaust/muffler cracked. I used some "cheap-o" muffler sealant to at least keep the crack sealed until I can get it replaced. My 16/50s are installed! But now it's just the matter of getting the engine itself to turn over. I went to see how things were going a couple days ago, Westend knows his stuff! Everything was installed right (AFAIK). Spark plug was changed, did a once over...all that good stuff. The engine is a LJ139QMB. Is that particular engine just BBK resistant or known to have problems when BBKs are installed? I'd just like to get to the nitty-gritty and get that scooter back on the road. Westend's patience working on the scooter is HIGHLY appreciated. I couldn't find any other shop that'd do a BBK (or other performance mods), nonetheless one that'd even touch a Chinabike in the first place (most shops in this city DON'T) within reason!
