Ok, I've tried a few different combinations. The stock carb had a 79 jet in it, I removed it and put in an85, i put in the 20mm with a n , and 100, I have holes in the airbox, and I used tape to cover and uncover 1 at a time Nothing so far seems to work right . What am I missing?

Ok thanks I was just wondering. It does sound better cranking. I just put it back in. Quitting 4 the night. I'll fire it up tomorrow. I set up the 20mm carb with a 100 jet. I"ll try the stock one first, if its n.g., ill swap it quick, and fool with the airbox. maybe scrap it, but I don't have a freeflow yet I'll get there ;D

how do you get smoke with no fire? Do you mean no flames comming out of the pipe, or no detonation?

Is there a set number of how many times you turn the engine over when you have the gauge in the plug hole? Is it like 4 or 5 cranks when it kind of levels off, or should we let it pump up to max? It may sound silly, but yesterday, at 4or 5, I was getting 210# I added a base gasket and today, it's about 180#. However, If I keep cranking 20 or 30 times, It builds to 260# I know how to do this on cars, but little engines, NO

I had another hoca set, so I used it plus two more paper gaskets. I torqued the head to 15 lb/ft, and set the valves to .004. I turned it over by hand a few times, and than checked valves again. really loose! The cylinder settled. I looked at the base, and the new gaskets are squished out> is this normal?

no marks on piston or scoring of cylinder. Botom gasket was deteriorated though why? was it the silicone? that was a thick hoca base gasket too Ill have to use a couple of regulars with the other hoca should I just put them in dry?

[replyingto=millsc]millsc[/replyingto]yeah, i agree, what do you make of the black plug? that same carb was on the stock 50cc in the scooter,,(190 psi) and it ran beautifully even was accelerating up hills, color good and all.maybe I didn't give that motor a chance ... Only 800 miles. Anyway , I'm going to try the 2 gaskets.

[replyingto=millsc]millsc[/replyingto]But I did'nt get it to run right yet, Seems like that piston is going to be too much for the crank.(fighting it) I was thinking- put the 2, maybe 2-1/2 base gaskets in, and maybe even putting the stock cam back. I don't want a super hypo machine, just a little more power. What do you think?

WELL GUYS, I think I found the answer. I removed the plug, and it is now black after running yesterday. Before I did anything else, I decided to put the compression gauge on it...210PSI!! Ya think thats a little too high? I guess things had to seat a little first

scootnwinn, the dam thing revved over 10000 on the center stand. Brandjur, yes, I had to up the idle. I think I am going to try fool;ing with the fuel/air ratio and prob. add a 2nd base gasket
