The Viking obviously isn't very aerodynamic, so I was figuring that a windscreen (aka windshield) might help smooth out the ride a bit at higher speeds. I know it's a long shot, but has anyone here with a Viking Trike added a windscreen, and if so which one did you get? There's a ton of generic ones out there but I'm concerned about fitment issues. Thanks, Tom

Sorry you had a bad experience 150mad, maybe it was your attitude. Are you mad at your 150 or just mad at the world in general? I've ordered twice now from SD and had no problems (even when I screwed up an order, they did right by me). And EXTREMELY fast shipping. C'est La Vie

Karen, glad to hear that everything was resolved for you!
Just want to add that I had a few problems with my Ice Bear Trike, minor to what Karen had, but problems nonetheless. Jim from Rapid Repair went the extra mile (and then some) to get everything taken care of for me. The guy is an honest businessman in a world of internet snakes. If you are at all considering an Ice Bear product, don't even think about ordering it from anyone other than Rapid Repair. On a side note, I've been asked about the Viking Trike multiple times in the 2 weeks I've had it. Mostly at stop lights. Per my request, Jim is mailing me some of his business cards I can hand out to folks expressing interest. Hope he sells a ton! Tom

Thank you Mr Oop for the great info! It appears that some of the Viking 150's come with 205/50-10 rears instead of 225/40-10. There is a much bigger selection of tires in the 205/50 range so that might be an option when the time comes, assuming the rims can handle a smaller width tire ok and there is enough fender clearance for a higher tire. I'm really looking forward to the trike arriving soon, it's gonna be a blast to ride.

Philly: That's what I was thinking, but was worried about loss of control if the back end starts hopping around. With 2 rear wheels you're gonna go where they are pointed irregardless of what you're doing with the front, at least immediately.
jerseyboy: Appreciate your informative post. Now go back to your room for milk and cookies.
ernie1: Great info, thanks! Have you found a place that sells DOT approved tires in this size?

Ordered an IceBear Viking PST 150-8 from Rapid Repair. Should be here next week. Having never ridden a trike, have a question: If hitting a pothole (or other obstacle) is unavoidable, is it better to take the hit with the front tire or a back tire if you have a choice? Also, the trike comes with 225/40-10 tires on the rear. It seems these are very difficult to find. Anyone have any recommendations? Hopefully I won't need to replace a tire for quite awhile but would like to know ahead of time where they are available. Thanks in advance! Tom

I will Dave. Really wanted a black one but it was a 2 month wait. There was one red available so Jim grabbed it for me. I'll play around with the color scheme, adding some black (just can't leave anything alone,,,,lol).

Just ordered a Viking PST150-8 from Rapid Repair and wanted to share the experience. Jim was extremely helpful, explained everything in detail, and was very personable to talk to (he answered the phone every time I called, no answering machine or robot-person reading from a script). It's great to deal with a small business owner that actually cares about his customers. Thanks Jim

Yup, and they recently raised the cc limit to 100 from 50 to qualify for the tag. No plate, insurance or endorsement needed to ride. However, with the tag, the legal speed limit for the scoot is still 30mph. Doing 30 around here will get you run over. Luckily the cops don't seem to strictly enforce it. And as for car insurance in Michigan, don't forget we are THE ONLY FREAKIN' STATE to have unlimited lifetime medical care for auto-related injuries. This additional fee goes from $175 to $186 per year per vehicle on July 1st. Incredible.

If you decide to go this route, be aware that the Genuine 2 year warranty and roadside assistance is only good for the original owner. This applies to all their scoots. $1500 for a gently used RoughHouse is a screaming deal, especially if it's been derestricted. Well constructed scooter, will do an honest 45 to 50 mph with no other mods other than removing the restrictions. I can personally vouch for this. A brand new one will run ya around $2200 before taxes by the time dealer prep etc is added.

Other ride is in sig, prior to the SX4 had an '05 Rubicon. Tons o' fun but horrible gas mileage + no rocks or mountains around here to climb. Past new vehicles include '01 PT Cruiser, ' Cherokee, ' Mustang GT, ' Omni GLH, '83 CJ-7, '79 Built Camaro, & my baby a '68 black Roadrunner. Sold it in '71 to buy a Pinto

On the RH is wasn't quite that bad, just variator & exhaust restrictions. Pretty easy but I was totally new to scooters so paid the dealer to do it before I picked it up. Newest addition ------- windscreen. Not sure yet if that will help top end a bit, but it sure cuts down on the upper body turbulence.
