How fast is my scooter? Well just the other day, I was at a stop light when another rider pulled up next to me. The rider challenged me to a race, said his ride had just been modified and he wanted to see how it held up. I said sure, but that I didn't have any mods done to speed mine up yet, so not to expect too much from my scooter. He said that was fine, he just wanted to be sure he hadn't lost any performance with the mods he had done. We nodded at each other, turned back to watch the lights, got down into our best racing positions, and when the light changed to green we were off! At first, I had a slight lead, but I have a bit of bog in my throttle at mid-range, so I new it was going to be a tough race. I played the throttle ever so slightly to try to coax the RPMs up as fast as possible, but the other rider started to catch up with me. Slowly I made it to the powerband and started to pull ahead ever so slightly. By the time we got to the next stoplight, I had pulled ahead by a considerable margin, sealing the victory! I turned around as the other rider pulled up and said "Better luck next time Grandpa, but that's a very nice wheelchair!"

Wow guys thanks for all the replies.
I will go out and give the carb a quick tune before my ride to school today.. it is in the rain for 50 minutes so I don't really feel like having to play around the tuning on the way there..
As far as the exhaust, thanks for the imput.. I will wait maybe a month or two and get a new one.. or maybe even go thru winter so that the salt finishes eating it up..
Contra spring is the large clutch spring correct? I believe everything in my clutch is stock.. so should it be better to upgrade to a stiffer spring?
I did rollers on it already, changed half to 4.4g and the rest stock (6g i think) which is what I found to be ideal in my case..

Hello guys and galls!
I have a 50cc chinese scooter which I ride 4-5 days a week 54km each day, and it has been quite pleasurable and reliable.
BUT.... 3 days ago the temperatures here dropped about 10-13 degrees Celsius so about 20-30 Fahrenheit? Anyways.. since the temperatures decreased, my scooter feels like it is lacking a bit of power, kinda like the carburetor is not tuned properly anymore.. can this change of temperature make a difference in the tuning of the carb?
Also, the exhaust on my scoot its on its last leg, and I am considering a performance exhaust.. but I have a couple of things that I do not understand perfectly..
Will a performance exhaust require a different size carb? and most importantly, will the performance exhaust help with acceleration? (please keep in mind that my scooter is still CDI restricted to a maximum speed of ~50kmh and it has to stay restricted because here the police check the maximum speeds of scooters with a rolling bench)
I know I probably don't make much sence so I will explicitly say my questions.
1) Can a change of 20-30 degrees Fahrenheit require a new care tune-up?
2) will a performance exhaust require further modifications or is it simply plug and play?
3) will a performance exhaust help me accelerate faster?
Thanks!!
Pedro

I would say also that it is a "group" thing...
When I had a nissan maxima, most people from the forum would always bash any other brand basically.. Same was with the forum for my Golf GTI..
It was also, when I had a R6, the people bashed almost any other type of motorcycle or car.. I even remember criticism towards bigger better motorcycles..
With that being said, I think its all in the persons head.. some have it filled with .. and other are more relaxed minded..

I don't doubt the kick starter works, but the system works clockwise, and from the photos, the kick starter is set up to where you would have to pull it up to turn clockwise..

or.. you can get a cheaper 12v impact wrench.. I had a hard time with my variator nut, got a cheap 12v impact and came out in 5 seconds..

Is it the break light? or the rear light?
The rear light is usually always on if the key in turn to "on"

Pretty cool..
Saw several processes that could be taken over by robots, but then again, labor is super cheap there anyways..
