geh3333 yes. That is exactly how I check the oil level. Right now I only the tip gets wet when I check the oil lvl unscrewed. Before the egr might have been handling the pressure now I plug that whole and it could be making this mess. I'll try the PVC. I do not know what pistonguy is asking. He asked me some questions not lain* I'm worried about your piston rings . you really need to do a compression test. You may have blow by passing the rings creating too much pressure in the crankcase.

When you install a bbk , you should not have to drop in variator weight. You should have a stronger running scoot , so if anything you should have to go up in weight. Your problem will be in the air/fuel system or the top end .

Everything is working on my new scoot. However I have noticed that lately at stops the throttle is not letting off all the way. To gauge how much, I stopped at a light then released the brakes without giving any twist to the throttle. It took me up to 12 miles per hour. Is the linkage sticking at the carb or do you think I have another problem? It does not happen every time and sometimes if I rev the throttle it corrects it. Thanks gang More then likely its the butterfly on the carb . its spring loaded and it should pull the throttle back all the way. If not , the butterfly assembly may be sticking or the throttle cable itself is catching somewhere.

i wish alleyoop could chime in. have you guys seen him on at all lately? i hope all is well. To be honest . it can only be a couple things . too high crank case pressure or overfilling the oil . how do you read the dipstick ? Did the oil come all at once or was it in the airbox for awhile , building up after each oil change ? When you drain the oil , some will always be left behind. Its important you read the dipstick correctly. It may sound simple , but it has happened many times before . if you read the dipstick without it screwed in , the oil should read halfway up the marked area on the dipstick.

lain I got the manual off the roketa website via the owners manual link www.roketa.com/product/36066/0/2620.shtmlIt doesnt state wether the gap is inch or metric on the manual. Im assuming its a metric gap which would make it the rough equivalent of 0.005 in imperial measurement(US) 0.005 in = 0.127 mm Hopefully im doing thing right, I removed the valve cover and didnt notice much RTV squeezed over the edge. It was on there pretty tight even after removing the valve cover bolts. I had to use a screwdriver handle and bang it to release the bond of the RTV valve cover gasket. I aligned the fan on the T mark. I checked the cam gear and the big circle is centered in the middle with the two smaller circles being level with the valve case. I took initial readings and the top valve is at 0.004, however the bottom valve is wayy too tight. Its sitting below 0.0016. I live in arizona, (hot weather), running 10w40 oil, what do you recommend i run? Is the bottom valve the intake or exhaust? Dont the valves generally loosen up with use, maybe it came too tight from the factory and it was never adjusted or it was adjusted improperly..Also it looks like my cluster is in KM, so i have roughly 3700mi on the scoot. geh3333 I dont think that cleaner is going too do much now. All the clear lenses have heavy UV damage. The only way i see it clearing up is if theres a chemical reaction that will make the plastic clear. I sanded most of the yellow/fog up and polished the lenses by hand. They really need to be replaced but its not worth the investment at the moment. I might buy some clear colored spray paint to cover the yellow. At this point it probably won't, since you already sanded and polished it. I always thought the yellowing was not able to be cleaned off , but I was shocked when this degreaser actually took it off. I was just going to clean the lenses a little , but when I sprayed the lenses the yellowing ran off with the degreaser . its still somewhat foggy , but not yellowed anymore .

I might as well ask . how do you measure your oil level when adding oil ?

I guess I'll have to clean the carb again. I'll update when finished You can test the petcok very easy . all you have to do is suck on the vacuum line that's connected to the petcock and gas's should flow through it. I along with others have just eliminated it and use a manual shutoff valve.

Nope. Those are not issues. I live in a suburb outside of LA, so its always either sunny or a little cold. The most we get is rain over here. I think I have an idea of what to check then. I'll take a look at the carb first. Thanks guys. Tbh , it sounds as if there may be a CVT issue . maybe a problem in the clutch . what type of belt are you running and have you ever inspected the CVT before ?

The lenses on our tracker and Buick regal were yellow . I used a strong degreaser and the yellow stuff just ran off with the degreaser. I was stunned. They are still a little cloudynbut not yellow anymore. It helped a lot .

People that do not own a scooter , have no idea how attached you become to it. Not just the riding but the tuning and modding. It almost becomes a cult atmosphere.
Absolutely!
Having been totally absorbed in the 1960's chopper culture, I can attest that the scooter culture is VERY similar... But a LOT more affordable... LOL! There are numerous "devices" that through their unique attraction create entire cultures: Cars, Motorcycles, scooters, boats, bicycles, firearms, computers, fishing tackle, cameras, model planes, and nowadays "drones"... the list is limitless. If a device is interesting, and can be modded, tweaked and enjoyed, it WILL develop a following...
Since my lifetime now has encompassed both the big-bike AND scooter world, I'm amazed at how VERY similar they are, yet usually appeal to radically-different riders. Personally, I'd enjoy riding a "nekkid" skelly scooter as much as a fire-breathing Harley chopper. I DEFINITELY enjoy riding my low-buck, used Kymco 250 every bit as much as riding a Harley bagger. The old Kymco actually is quicker 0-60 than my old 1970 Electra-Glide was, AND rides more solid and comfortable at 70!!! BEEN there, DONE that, got BOTH T-shirts...
I guess the step-through frame and CVT trannies just make the breeds TOO different to become one culture, but as for me, one's as good as the other. Maybe things are slowly changing after all... Lately I've fallen in with a couple groups of chopper-jockeys, and crotch-rocket boys for short runs. They get a kick out of an old geezer who can tell true stories from experience of the glory days of stone-age bikes a half-century ago. Could be scooters are finally "winning their spurs" in the world of two-wheels. Hmmm... Come to think of it, we almost always had a couple of guys on Mustangs, and Cushman Eagles running with our Harleys, Indians, Truimphs and BSA's back in the day. Of course, even the immortal Cushman Eagle maxed out at a sedate 50 mph... But, THAT was usually fast enough on the truly AWFUL surface 2-lanes of the day. And keeping it "low and slow" saved a lot of wear and tear on our butts when riding hard-tail bobbers.
When it's all said and done though, at my age, I REALLY love the little "twist n' go" scoots. A couple times, I've traded off with a young buck and rode his crotch-rocket, and he rode "Minnie Mouse". He was actually amazed at how fast 19hp could actually be... I was amazed at just how fast 400 hp could be too!!! Woo-HOO! Tail-on-fire, eyeballs bounced off the back of my skull, warp-nine intergalactic-scare Darth Vader to wet his space-suit fast... But I'm too old and arthritic to ride with my chin on the tank and the handlebars down by the front axle. My back still hurts just thinking about it... (effortless WHEELIES and STOPPIES are fun, though!!!). Now, IF I was a couple decades YOUNGER, and WHOLE lot RICHER... The 700cc type scooters like the Kymco "MY ROAD" or the big Honda would be a MIGHTY tempting "twist n' go, way to go"... LOL!
So whatever you ride, thrash it through the switches, but keep it outta the ditches!
Leo (still twistin' n' goin') in Texas
Very nice !

Since getting my Yamaha Zuma 125, I've noticed the CVT really does appear to be the best aspect of scooters. I love the feeling of going seamlessly from 0 to 50 uphill in a few seconds by just twisting my wrist a little. Unfortunately, very few people get it. I was with a friend once at a party. We were all outside in the driveway and my Zuma was parked there. My friend and I were looking at my Zuma when a friend of my friend walked over and said that he knows someone who wants to get a scooter. My friend knew the person he spoke of and replied, "Why does he want to get a scooter?" His friend then replied, "I don't know. He just wants one. He's wanted one for about two years now." The way in which they spoke kind of bugged me. It was as if they were saying, "Why would he or anyone else want to get a crappy piece of junk scooter? He is stupid for wanting one of those things." People that do not own a scooter , have no idea how attached you become to it. Not just the riding but the tuning and modding. It almost becomes a cult atmosphere.
