would it make that much of a difference with bbk or should i just use higher jet I personally like the 20mm carb, don't know how much of a difference it makes, but I did notice some... While you can change the 18 mm to a bigger jet and make it add more fuel, you can't really make it gulp more air, where as the 20 mm can.. If you have a big bore head, with the larger valves, and a free flow exhaust it can help get more power..

I took out the high performance motor I built, and put the original back in.I need to do some more work on it before i'm happy. Overheated the cylinder yesterday. No dmage though I took the head off to check. The original motor runs like a champ! 37-40 mph no problem smooth and quiet too. Just sucks on hills and against the wind. While I play with the build, I want to be able to ride. So out it came for now. Hey Jack just had a though, when you got your new engine did you take the cvt cover off and clean the oil and grease or whatever that stuff is they use to protect the components from rust.. Did you clean it off ? Mine was covered with that stuff, but since i used the clutch from Fawkes old engine, I had no need to clean it I just took it out and put Fawke's in, but the one that I took out, the inside of the clutch bell, the clutch shoes, springs all that were just coated with that grease like stuff.

A simple multi meter would confirm whats wrong.... I should also point out that if your regulator loses it's ground it will not be able to dump the excess power to the frame, this too will cause your lights to blow,, and since we use low beams more than hi, they will be the first to blow..
and multi meter set on ac will confirm if you have power going to the bulbs,, and will tell you if it's the switch or something else... I'm a firm believer that finding out the nature of the failure is better than just throwing parts at it... I would find an ohms meter and confirm what's wrong... Good Luck

Hi richardthescooter1 Most scooter headlight bulbs have two filaments in them, One is high beam and the other is low, if you have hi but not low, it's possible the bulb is partially blown... Also if you have a two bulb system, when one bulb blows like this, more power is sent to the other and can cause premature failure.. Ive had it happen, i would replace the bulbs with new ones.... Also since most of us tend to use the low beams more than high beams. Low beams tend to blow before High.
Hope it helps

Yep your right a cooler engine is a happier engine...... But even thought Fawkes is not a stroker anymore ( for the moment ) He's still hopped up, I actually have no idea how much if any "engine" damage was done to Fawkes using the Hoca fan, but i can attest to my CVT getting too hot and melting the variator fan and the variator plastic guides, and destroying belts prematurely.. IMHO it's not worth the risk.. If the Oem fan was better at cooling than the Hoca, no scoop is going to change that... also the wind from the scoop and the Hoca would be fighting each other, as the fins are in the opposite direction and blow twords the scoop rather than suck.. The Flywheel fan has nothing to do with the CVT, that fan cools the motor that is why it blows under the shroud. Alleyoop Yes, but the hotter the engine runs the hotter the cvt will be also, the engine heat does transfer thru the metal to the CVT chamber, and adds to the heat being generated by the CVT operation.. As soon as I got the engine temps under control my melting CVT parts stopped..

So, what the crap are all of us supposed to do with our Hoca Fans? I paid my local scooter guy like, 30$ for my fan! I was uneducated and didn't know any better, he told me it was an aftermarket racing fan and would cool better. 30$ could get me a roller weight kit, or some other goodies! Anybody want to buy a cool, red, racing fan? LOL! Hummm well I don't know what to do with them, I still have mine, but i sure will never use it again.. Wonder if I can sell it as a hamster exercise wheel.

Is it not better efficient private corporations have taken over space flights / missions? ;D Mars 2023!!! Perhaps your right.. I know they say it will be more efficient and cost effective, and Gov tends to be pretty wasteful in my experience.. I just remember as a boy the pride this nation had with the NASA Apollo program, I remember it again when the Shuttle was first launched.. It was a pride that was felt nation wide, by all.. And in my opinion it gave Fantastic roll models for our children to aspire to.. There were many benefits that we as a nation seen from that program... Perhaps it's best days are over, and the concept of NASA outdated, to be bettered by private industry's.. As I said earlier time will tell.

Was a little boy about 5 or 6, glued to a black and white tv, watching Walter Cronkite narrate this as it happened live.. A pack of wild horses couldn't have drug me from that tv... Now NASA is nothing... What a shame

Hi Jtgolden I think a compression check would answer your questions, Ideal compression is between 150 to about 185.. If you don't have a compression checker, you can rent one from Autozone, just be sure to get the 10 mm adapter...

I ran into the same problem with the Hoca Performance fan, was the main source of my over heating problem when Fawkes was a stroker... Put the oem fan back on and Fawkes quit over heating... If i were to do it again I would i would just do a scoop with the oem fan.

We had the four-door version (of course) in Deep Carmine Red, which normal people would call burgundy or purplish. White vinyl interior. Pretty much like the middle one left column. Not the best design, but was the best ride. >'Kat Ohhh Kat GM really lost a lot when they discontinued these wonderful car lines. That olds of mine was not quick on takeoff, respectable, but not quick, However given enough road would easily out run the Camaro's and Mustang's with pedal to go, did it all the time in my youth. Even the Trans Am when it came out couldn't keep up.. The Charger was the only one that gave it a good run, that one was so close we really never knew who won ( I still had pedal to go, just not the guts to use it ).... Not a Chrysler fan but that was the only one that gave it any competition... Never ran a Barracuda or a 442 at the time none of my friends had one LOL.. These were the true muscle cars that put the enjoyment and excitement in driving.. Can't tell you what I would give to own another 69 Cutlass again...
