howdy, i don't know if this is a good time to chime in but i can attest to variable timing on starting issues. it saves the day for sure.

howdy, as long as the battery is 12 volts, it won't hurt anything. the physical size and placement of the terminals will be the critical things for a replacement battery. the higher cranking amps though will allow the voltage to stay higher while the starter is cranking which will prolong the life of the starter and other components.

howdy, the higher chance that i would get stuck somewhere that i can't walk to help is not worth any scrimpng to me. reliability first , and none of the scootes i've had have ever let me down. kudos to sym, kymco and piaggio.

howdy and welcome to the great northwest. it depends on where you are from but it can be a bit of shock the first time in seattle. i do reccomend a meal in the spaceneedle. it is expensive but in the hour you are seated at the table, you make a 360% circle and get to see from the snowcovered mountains to the sea.

howdy and yup, i went over to my sisters' place just south of tillamook oregon and that was going down highway 22 which is curvy. i got to feel young again on the curves where i had visibility so knew no surprises were in store. but as stated i enjoy a more sedate pace for the most part. i still can't seem to break the habit of just keeping on keeping on instead of stopping to sightsee. i did stop at fort yamhill and enjoyed reading the histerical---er historical stuff and making a phone call as it is the last place for 40 miles or so with cell service.

howdy, you don't say where in eastern washington and whether you will ride the freeways, but if you intend to ride the freeways in eastern washington, be aware that you will have significant hills no matter where you are. that says that you need something at least like the hd200 sym which from experience i know stock, will give you about 80 mpg. on a scooter at speed, your greatest fuel mileage stealer is aerodynamics. very few changes will make much difference other than that. that sym or the 200 kymco would be minimums in my opinion and experience for that area. that is where i have lived and ridden everything legal and some that aren't. by the way, i found the hd200 to be so near the 250's in performance as to be negligible. i had the kymco 250 grand vista also and other than having more storage onboard, there was negligible difference in speed up the mountain passes. i did put 8,000 miles on it and a great bit of that on the freeway. i now have the bv350 piaggio and find it a great traveling machine but now down just over 60 mpg but that at 70 mph or speed limit everywhere. i've put 5500 miles on in 9 months including a 960 miles round trip to boise idaho.

howdy, yes, wind noise seems to be a factor on anything i rode. i put a laminar-lip on my bv350 and it seemed to do nothing to help the noise or buffeting. lotsa luck(and it may take that) on getting the right combo.
i s'pose i could try raising my laminar lip but hate to dismount the velcro tabs for fear i can't get it to stick higher up. can anyone tell me if the mounting buttons that come pre-attached to the laminar lip are in fact velcro that can be separated then re-attached..

howdy, when the bugs get bad on the helmet shield and windshield, i don't scrub, i just wet a towel and drape it over the shield overnight which softens up the bug stuff which comes of then without much scrubbing. then use a light film of detergent or something then for anti fog.

howdy, i'm pretty sure i'd like it which is why i won't even consider test riding one. my bv 350 will just have to do. it was nice to see the non-performing side of jay leno.
