Note: my mother's starter bike (still has it) was and is a 650cc Suzuki Savage![/quote]
howdy, not to burst the bubble or anything but the ladies are more likely to live through starting on a large motorcycle than the average testosterone bag who gets overconfident and drives beyond his experience level.

howdy, this opinion will be unpopular but if it doesn't fit, don't wear it.
i have noticed a lot of single vehicle(motorcycle) accidents recently. in my opinion it is from inexperienced riders buy their first motorcycle and it is a 700 pound harley or something similar. then they get out riding and get into a corner too fast make a wrong move and pay with their life and maybe someone else as well. i have ridden the 400 above mentioned and i think it is enough unlike a bicycle to let you get into trouble and not realize it. there is a certain detachment or disconnect that isolates you from the actuall road and control conditions and that will not be as much the case with a 250 or 300 like kymco or sym or piaggio etc. where it is not so much like driving a bathbub. nothing against that when you are more attuned. recommend against the burgy as a first scoot.

howdy, yup i know the good humor is all you can do sometimes. was totally disabled in and sold the gold wing then 20 some years later discovered the scooter thing which i can get on without having to swing the leg over. now i'm all over but it probably is funny to see some guy come sliding into the restaurant parking lot then take a half hour to get from there to the coffee chair. just glad to be able to go at all. really all the best to all of us as we keep on keepin' on. the green side of the lawn looks much better than the other. lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken

howdy, i agree that nothing beats the feeling of owing nothing to anyone except to be a good neighbor(and who is my neighbor?). i would encourage anyone to do as the examples above .

howdy and thanks fer the sharing. been there , done that , but not at 30 mph. was through to the south rim in 1972 on my new 450 honda. so cold coming through new mexico i stopped and asked them to throw me in jail just to get warm. napped in a service station waiting room in flagstaff arizona then went to south rim for sun-up. long trip with no money for motel rooms. i covered over 4,000 miles at a cost of a penny a mile.

howdy, a question maybe lightly off topic but can you actually get sym parts and service all the time? i sure think they are a fine machine and i'd like to see them come on strong.

howdy, this response will probably prove to be totally useless to you but here goes.
if you can ride at a steady speed on any of the freeways that have mileposts and have a watch with a way to measure seconds, time yourself between mileposts and divide that into 3600 which will give you exact miles per hour. example if your speed is 60 seconds between mileposts and you divide into 3600 it gives you exactly 60 mpg. it will work at any speed but best if you time between several mileposts and average those results. then simply see what percentage your speedometer is off by comparing the reading on the speedometer to the result of your calculation. obviously this won't work in town.
