Hi all! I've been browsing around ScootDawg for a while and finally saw the link to join the forum here. I picked up my second scooter yesterday - a Linhai Aeolus 300. I started out riding a 150 early last year for a few months, decided I wanted a motorcycle so I picked up an '05 250 Ninja and now here I am... back on a scoot! I just find the joy of riding without worrying about all the other things on a bike much more enjoyable. Nothing like sitting back and enjoying the ride! Glad to be a part of the forum and looking forward to swapping stories and learning a ton of new things. -Joe

Nice bike! Glad you like it! One of the reasons I don't like motorcycles that much, is because all of them are performance tuned in a lousy way! They have 5 or 6 gears, and still rev too high on the highway.
I hear the Ninja 300 has better gearing than the 250, but still revs high.
I personally like riding manual, only when the bike/car has the right gears. Chevrolet did well in their gears with the Spark, Sonic, and the Cruze. Honda did terrible with their VT750 bikes! In fact, on my Honda I needed to shift so many times, ending up in 35MPH as cruising speed (5th gear)! Ridiculous! They don't have an overdrive, and I hate riding in the city and having to shift a hundred times between lights.
But I'm willing to try out motoguzzi and Royal Emfield; see how they fare. But whenever I feel that the gears are too short, more for racing than for riding, I prefer to ride a CVT. Otherwise manual gearing all the way!

Thanks for the warm welcome! prodigit... I hear you buddy. The little 250 Ninja was a shifting PIA! Just to cruise down the road to the gas station I had to hit 5th. I'm definitely not going to miss that at all. I may not be seen as riding something as "cool" (not that 250's are seen as cool) but I'll be smiling as I'm kicking my feet up on the floorboard! Haha
