I used to ride a Suzuki LS650 Savage, I now ride a Vespa LX150. I went with the 150 because it was light but capable of freeways and Interstates. Altho' it is marginal, going over the Grapevine it slows to 50-55 mph, only a hair faster than loaded semis. Not that it would bother you, you don't got mountains. If you don't mind the excess weight, 250+ scooters can do 75-80 mph.

Can you used water paint so you could color the scooter and then wash the color off?
I just checked at modernvespa.com and I did not notice your post. There are more Vespa riders there than here.

I had a truck, a 1977 GMC K2500, full time 4x4, 400SB. Could carry over a ton, pulled a fifth wheel camper trailer ....

Big difference between Texans and the Nuts and Fruits in La La Land. Not only don't attack us riders, I paused splitting when the driver of a truck opened a window and folded in his mirror to give me more space.

Here's another video for discussion about defensive riding and also about awareness.... A squid on a Gixxer (4-cylinder Suzuki street legal racing bike) doing about 30 mph faster than traffic, not looking ahead. There is nothing about "defensive riding" in this video -- he was, and probably still is, an offensive rider. One of those that makes the statistics on motorcycles look bad.

I hear ya!! I just turned 44 in sept,,I have been watching my diet also,,heart disease runs in my family.... Run? On my father's side every male died of heart attacks, 'cept for Alex who was shot down in Korea. My dad died at age 43. I managed to go to 50 before my first heart attack. If you get unexplainable chest pains just call 911. With mine it was pain high and center, shoulder ache, hmmm... called 911... three minutes later I lost consciousness. Just as the EMTs put the gurney down. Those guys are good. You can die before they arrive, you can die in the hospital, they will not allow you to die in their hands. Medicine is far better than 20 years ago, but one third of all first heart attacks are fatal -- because they did not call 911 in time. Good news -- you have a 0.5% chance of killing on a scooter, a % chance of dying of heart attack. Stress is the killer. The scooter kills stress. The scooter keeps you alive. When people tell you motorcycles are dangerous you can tell them that for those which a family history of heart disease the motorcycles save lives.

Why didn't the trike climb the hill in reverse to prevent the wheelie? 'Cause they are KIDS! It's a damn good thing that there were no videos available when I was a kid.

Started with Pacific Telephone and Telegraph in November 1970. My one way commute was 18.3 miles from Torrance to Downtown L.A.. In 1Q71 I bought a house in Gardena (where I still live) -- 14.3 miles one way. About six years later I transferred to the Gardena C.O. -- 2.7 miles one way. In ' I pulled the switch from my Stepper switch, got into O.C.S. in '87, the barn in 139th street, 1.3 miles from home. That was sweet! Also leased. In '89 we moved to an owned complex, 3.6 miles to work, 3.7 miles back home. Until I retired, I was riding/driving less than 4K miles a year. Since I retired I am riding more, about 5.5K miles a year, mostly shopping. Retired I am cooking more, more fresh food, more picky about my food, riding more shopping for dinner.

You can either hope that the drivers "Think once, think twice, think bike"
-- or you can know that you are invisible and you need to avoid the drivers.
The drivers are far better than those in the '60's, '70's, etc.. But I still do not trust them. It only takes one in a thousand to not see you, and you are dead.
AFAIK, the video is pushed by car insurance companies, since it they who pay out the big money. They care about the averages and their bottom line. They want fewer motorcyclists injured and killed. They don't care about individuals.

... Cops seem to be above the law in every case against them that I've seen. I hope justice prevails in this case and these cops go to prison where they belong. - % of the cops are good. The problem is that the good cops cover that 5-10% instead of throwing them in prison for their felonies. When caught they sit home while still getting their pay, and the worst penalty is they are dismissed from the force.
