I just started riding and I'm 43. Looks like we are getting a late start. little bit, i guess. little bit. i like to think i appreciate it more being i drove for 27 years prior in very congested traffic conditions. now traffic doesn't exist being i ride in California where i just ride right through it. i figure my swing from scooter to motorcycle and back to scoot on account of age will be shorter, but maybe a bit sweeter i will never give up small scooters, though. even if riding MC's. i will always have one scooter, at least. i'll just switch to a BIG one like a 'Burg when the mechanics of operating a MC are no longer kind to an aging body or mind. hopefully i have at least 20 good years left in me until a maxi scoot arrives. maybe even a bit longer saw a guy post on another forum been riding many a year. finally traded in his last MC for a Yamaha Majesty at the ripe young age of.....81! i can deal with that

i ride alone. i don't quite get the riding companion thing. i think they would slow me down, and are on a whole other bike, anyway. so i am not exactly riding with them. plus i am a full time rider so if you're riding with me you're going where i am going and doing what i am doing. and 'id rather do my daily commuting alone! group rides? i been on a few and plan on going on a few more. they are long and slow 'n slower on a scoot and the only thing i can think of when our destination is reached and we hop off the bikes is i want to ride more. preferably, alone. its how i like it along with some music

Call me a cynic here, but sounds more like someone dealing and trying to avoid a dealer's license, or whatever is required to sell like that. >'Kat thats exactly what it is, most likely. probably ordered them and got a discount and is trying to profit a few hundred on each scoot. or more $800-$925 for the lowest of chinese 50's lucky to hit 35mph? ugh and....50cc's with WINDSHIELDS!!

Hmm? Sounds like you wanted a motorcycle and got a BIG scooter. A big scooter like the 'Burg is made for comfort and some touring, not burning up the streets like a small scooter. A 650cc scooter? You can sort of see what you're getting just looking at it. Getting old is not easy sometimes. plz don't remind me. i'm 47 and just started riding 2 and 1/2 years ago

an Agility 125 is an awesome value oriented scoot, too. handles great once you change the rear tire (or both) and its TOUGH. stands up to abuse, will hit 55mph - 60mph. its real sweet spot is 35-50mph, though. in the city its really great. zippy with decent roll on power for passing and good acceleration to leave cars behind at lights. also an excellent scoot to split lanes with as its low to mid range grunt will keep you moving ahead of traffic

i like the 250 deal. get it at a somewhat better price, even a few hundred dollars off is 10%, give or take. so say a savings of $3000+ off the 350. bank the savings whether you get a loan or are paying cash. you can then save a bit more, or with a lower mileage BV250 on hand sell it later for say....$2500 give or take and add it to your savings and buy more scooter. or save the $3000 for upkeep of the 250. w/e you want to do but $3000+ saved just sounds good to me
if you're good at say 70mph with your wife on board should be ok. i mean it will go faster depending, but if that is a good cruising speed for you, great. many on the highway do not expect bikes with 2 up to be blazing trails, anyway. so i think cruising along at a reasonable clip like that would be fine 2 up
investigate the Modern Vespa forums and the wider web about the BV250 top end in general. pretty sure a complete picture will come to mind. and since top end is important to you two up you'll want to be sure it can meet your demands and road conditions again and again concerning top end.
oh, and its an OKAY deal. i would, as the above poster said, try to get it for somewhat less to make it a truly GOOD deal for YOU. as said, ask around the 'net at forums familiar with the scoot and its value

Hmm, this is strange. I had a guy on a Vespa LT 150 tell me his top speed was 80- mph (Them Vespa's is FAST) Impossible stock. Maybe even otherwise. The 250 / 300cc Vespa will do that, however my 150 will hit speedo indicated 65 ... I think....haven't tried a wot run in a while. I hit 65 indicated on my 125 today. Flat ground, too. But that is not common. Most of the time I top out in the low 60mph, indicated. Speedo is around 5mph off across the band. Same goes for my 150. Top speed doesn't concern me a lot as I don't really need it. I ride WOT much of the time and cruise at 55mph without strain. If I needed to cruise at 65mph comfortably and consistently in most any conditions I would get a capable 250cc something or another. Note I say in most any conditions. That is why for me 250cc for 65mph would have to be the minimal. If I am going 65mph I want the power to get up to 85mph+, not struggle to get to to 75mph with an odd cc bike. 170cc, 220cc, and what have you. 200cc. Nope. Just give me a good 250cc+ and that settles it

Oops. Well, looks like they are from overseas, after all. Young, brothers. Somehow I feel bad for these pathetic folks who do not value this life whatsoever. One of these is only 19. How does one come to believe like this? It must start early Anywho i am going to figure the "lone wolf" kind of terrorists. "Inspired" and maybe with some connections here and there, but acting alone and perhaps instructed to. Its said with terror cells cut off from leadership and young people willing to die for the cause, some get itchy and go for the gusto alone. I guess they figure they will show they can't be stopped. And this is most likely true as it bears itself out time and time again Terrorism is failed strategy, though. I wonder when they might realize this?
