After everything I tried.... ended up being a bad coil....!
Nothing fuel, air, or exhaust related at all..

Hello,
Having an issue with my GY6 150cc scooter.
I bought an engine brand new... because the old one went out.
Everything was fine for a few years until recently it started acting weird. I went to change out the carb.. but for some reason, this carb is not serviceable. The 4 Phillips heads on the bottom of the carb were sheered off and I cannot access the float or jets to clean.
I had a spare carb so I put it on.
When I put the new carb on, I also took off the snorkel tube and breather box and put on a short cone filter.
...and that is where my problems began...
After a week of the popping, I ordered a new jet set.
Originally the carb had a #35 pilot jet - I removed and put on a #45 Originally the carb had a #105 or #108 main jet - I removed and put on a #120
After the upjet - I am still having the popping issues.. maybe even worse...
Please advise!!
Thanks!

Well, I removed the air filter box and put on one of those conical air intakes....
The filter was quite dirty and the cost for a new filter was about the same as the conical intake filter - so I am trying that...
The scoot is a little bit louder, which isn't such a bad thing because it was quite quiet before.
Now the scooter gets up to 35mph with a little time.
I weigh about 200lbs - so I am wondering if I am asking too much from this little 50cc??
The issue I had before... with the engine seeming like it is cutting off... is totally gone now which is kinda weird.... but I'll take it!
Thanks!

Hey all,
I have this little 50cc Dazon scooter that I just use for buzzing around the neighborhood.
Had a recent issue where it would hardly get up to 25mph... so I removed the carb and cleaned it all up.
Now the scoot hits 30mph no problem at all.
BUT.... its weird... as soon as it gets to 30mph... if I hit a bump, or run over a manhole cover..or whatever the scooter briefly pauses and like holds back. Almost like a kill switch is engaged for a fraction of a second. Its like it won't let me go over 30mph at all...
Any thoughts on that?
Thanks!

man... what a total P.I.T.A. - found the culprit... !!
A yellow wire going to the stator - and a few other things - somehow shorted out and fused with what appears to be a black ground wire...
The trick I used was to turn on the ignition for maybe 5 seconds - which gave enough time for the wires to get warm before the fuse blew. I just felt around for those warm wires and followed them to where the short was...
I cut out the short and spliced the wires back together.
Starts up great and runs now!

Could the short be coming from the ignition switch? - is that possible?

Im trying again to determine the issue... i took most panels off. Noticed that the red wire that goes to the ignition also gets warm... could a bad ignition be the source and cause of the fuse blowing?

...not sure how that video is going to help me... the fuse is blowing (like a flash bulb) almost 5 seconds into the ignition switch just being turned on - and the motor not even running...

Is it possible... that this is caused by a faulty kill switch or start button?
I recall about a year ago - when it last ran - that it rained that night.
There is a little plastic window piece on the right hand grip side that had fallen out... is it possible some water got in there and shorted out the kill or starter switch??

Hey all,
Having a major issue with my scoot blowing fuses.
The battery fuse (10a) keeps blowing or wanting to blow...
I have disconnected virtually everything - all front lights, all tail lights, starter, CDI, solenoid, voltage regulator...etc...
And the battery fuse wants to blow just by turning on the ignition..! I would put my hand on the fuse and when it stars to get warm, I switch it off.
The only thing I found that stopped the scoot from wanting to blow the fuse was when I disconnected the STATOR.
I started snipping wires (5 wire stator) and spliced them back until I found the culprit.
The wire that made the fuse want to blow was the yellow stator wire. With the other 4 wires still connected (white and green, and the other 2 separate wires) the fuse did not want to blow...
Is it possible I have a bad stator that is causing these issues??
...Or any thoughts would be much appreciated...
Thank you!!

Hello all,
Have a weird headlight issue...
I recently performed a 150cc swap. I also swapped out the 25w headlights with 35w headlights.
The headlights were dimming when the RPMs of the engine got below a certain point.
I am not sure what happened, but now one light is significantly brighter than the other. I also have a blue indicator lamp on the dash panel that I did not have before...
I want to have both of these lamps the same brightness - is it possibly just a loose wire somewhere??
Thanks!

Quite possible that the new stator is different than the old stator..
I really don't want to have to take them both apart to find out - urgh...
I got it to work though...
At first, the headlights were VERY dim - but after I changed out the voltage regulator with the one that came in the kit - the headlights are bright.
However, after testing the voltage on the battery at rest it is about 12.5 or so volts. At idle, the voltage drops down significantly - like to about 6-8v Revved up - it jumps all over the place, but eventually makes its way back up to the 11v and 12+v levels.

Hello, I recently purchased and installed a new GY6 engine. I have everything almost all connected up - except for the stator. The 3-wire connector on the new engine (yellow, green, and white wires) will not connect to the current wiring harness. The plastic plug connectors are different... Is it as simple as cutting off the current plastic connectors and getting 2 new male and female pigtail connectors, soldering/splicing them on and then connecting it all up? Any suggestions would help... FYI - here is what I got just in case: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A6M2ZN6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1Thanks!

Thanks joaoeu,
The Scooter model is Jonway YY150T-12 which is stamped on a plate on the front
engine model 157QMJ 110 are the first 3 numbers stamped on the engine L8Y are the first 3 digits on the serial number of the scooter
Does that help identify the replacement engine I would need?
Thanks!
