Start with something easy. could be that you are too lean causing a bog under load. here is Lefty's patented surefire carb adjustment technique:
Lefty's Carb Adjusting Procedure:
ADJUSTING YOUR FUEL RATIO SCREW:
FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE, take your time DO NOT Be turning the SCREW fast and wait in between turns otherwise you will be off.
Warm Up the SCOOT for at least 5 minutes.
YOU WANT THE HIGHEST IDLE OUT OF THE FUEL RATIO SCREW YOU CAN GET.
ADJUST YOUR RUEL RATIO:
1.Turn the Fuel Ratio Screw Counter Clockwise 1/4 and wait 10-15 seconds to allow the engine to catch up with the new setting.
** IF ON THE FIRST TURN IT DOES NOTHING OR IDLE GOES DOWN- GO to 2.*** Otherwise GO to a. below.
a. If the IDLE GOES up repeat 1. b. If the IDLE does not go up or it does nothing turn the Fuel Ratio Screw 1/8 Clockwise that should be the highest IDLE you can get out of the Fuel Ratio Screw-- GO to FINISH UP.
2. Turn the Screw Back 1/4 and GO to 3..
3. Turn the Fuel Ratio Screw Clockwise 1/4 and wait 10-15 seconds to allow the engine to catch up with the new setting.

My Vog 260 just turned over 8,500 miles. I had some growing pains but the good people at scootdawg and its extensive bank of archived knowledge got me through it all. Best hobby I've ever had.

Is that the 244cc helix clone engine? If so, this manual might help (for the engine). www.mediafire.com/view/?f7nqc1qv97uife7If it has the linhai clone engine (257cc) you can find and download the Yamaha YP250 manual on line somewhere. pm me if you can't find it - i have it as a pdf i can email to you.

This is the part. www.bmsmotorparts.com/product_info.php/products_id/2539 Call them to confirm that it is good for your year. I have found that unless something is a very generic part, it is best to go through BMS or Roketa (this is their MS-62) because this scoot's parts are often just a little different than other Linhai clones.

Hi. First, I'm impressed you're looking for more power at 70 - I weigh 240, and I'm pretty much topped out on my 260 at 70. Second, I would also go over your vacuum lines, as well as the manifold. Sometimes the vacuum pump can't keep up at highest speeds if there is any vacuum leak. Finally, "in alleyoop we trust." Be sure to try whatever he suggests!

So anyone who knows me from the old board knows about my chronic hot start issue with my Vog 260. Starts right up cold, but when hot, takes several three or four counts on the starter to get it going.
I've ruled out valves, spark plug and vacuum leak. I now think it might be vapor lock, which might make sense since I've seen that my fuel line runs very close to the engine at one point.
I want to buy some fuel line heat shielding, but there seems to be many types out there. Any recommendations?? Thanks in advance as always.

Great advice. Whenever I have starting issues on the same scooter, I put the key in the on position and check each break to see if the break light goes on. No light, odds are the switch is shot.
