ok here's a stupid question: Does Michelin make a good tire for scooters? I was looking at pirelli, &bridgestone. I went to my local bike dealer, and he sells michelin. I swear by them on my vehicles, but I dont know if they are a top tire for scoots. Anybody out there wear Michelins?

I have run 2 different types of Michelins the CityGrip on my Burgman and now S1's on the Vespa. Great tires the both of them I had/have them scrubbed edge to edge with never a slip wet, dry, hot, cold, or whatever.

that's the main issue with the OEM tires on the chinese scoots. I was taking a curve full of that crack-sealer, and I noticed the rear end slipping out from under me every time i'd hit one! I was probably going about 30. I did'nt panic, rode it out. That was enough for me. these tires gotta go!

I go with Pirelli also. Funny thing is when you take off the OEM Chinese stuff you can squeeze it like a sponge, trying to do that with a set of Pirelli's is like trying to squeeze a block made of Oak

Thanks guys. I just ordered a set of Michelin 130/70/12 city grip tires from my local shop $ .00 each. In the book, however, they list 120/70/12 front, and 130/70/12 rear. My scoot came with 130/70 12's on both. I told him I wanted to keep it the same. He says he;ll turn the back around for the tread rotation pattern. Isnt the rotation marked on all the tires? are front and rear different? Did I make a mistake here by getting two rear tires? I can still change that. Any input?

That's the right thing to do tread on back is opposite the front he knows what he's doing. Good choice you won't regret it.

[replyingto=scootnwinn]scootnwinn[/replyingto]Yeah ,especially since my new GY6/100 and 23mm carb are finally being shipped from scrappydog. With the power and speed upgrade,I think the point where the rubber meets the road is of paramount importance.
Thanks again, Jack

I'd like to know which tires would be specifically best for taking corners tightly; in other words, something that's relatively soft with tread riding sort of high so you could really get your lean on. The three times I've crashed in this first year, one was just being stupid and skidding to a stop in gravel, but the other two were taking corners fast. One was on gravel (I should have known better, but it got deeper, like snow, in that corner more so than on other corners) and one time I just barely hit a tiny puddle in a parking lot, literally about as big around as a 12 oz. can, and WHUMP!. I also slipped once on a medium-grade turn on a tiny puddle but recovered (that was before I got my Kenda K329 tire for the rear; the two fall-during-turn incidents happened after, though). Now my faith is shaken a little; I used to go into corners with reckless disregard for angles, feeling I could handle it. Well, I can, but the scoot can't always.
