There are a lot of VOG posts on the old scootdawg site, which used to have a google pane to search in which was great. Since that site was closed a lot of the detail on the site has been lost. Do a regular search on google with the word "Vog" and "scootdawg.proboards.com" and your issue and you can still get decent search results.

teskow - glad to hear that I'm not crazy! I take out the cotter pin on the seat and prop it up with a stick too. When I had to change my brake lights I ended up taking my dremel tool and cutting access holes in the back of the tub rather than remove it. When its time to remove/clean the carb I plan on doing exactly what you did for access. Great minds must think alike.

I was taught to screw in the plug finger tight, then a 1/4 turn with the wrench.

justpassinthru - there was a perfect thread on the old scoot dawg site to do this but all the pictures have been deleted. As luck would have it I printed it out long ago. Send me a personal message with your email and I'll scan it and send you a pdf.

FWIW, I'll just say that around here (NYC/jersey burbs) a Vog 260 in good shape with low miles can be had for between $1200 and $1800. You're problem is your going to need a very particular buyer - not just one who wants a chinese scoot, but one who can fix it as well. Tough call.

That's a bummer that you can't collect the pieces. One reason I glued everything together is that to buy the replacement plastic was a significant portion of the value of the whole scooter. Sorry you've had such troubles with this once. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Solidarity brother! I hit a deer a year or so ago on my Vog - shattered the plastic and the black plastic, lost mounting holes, the works. I took my two boys and we scoured the area an got just about all the plastic shards. If you want to put it together like a puzzle, which I was able to do with great success, get something called "Weldon 16" on the internet for all the body plastic and any plexi/lexan. It creates a very strong bond. For the black plastic, you can use Locktite Epoxy for plastic. You need to hold the glued area for about 15 minutes, but it bonds very strongly. You can see all my damage up close, but it came out pretty well. I bolted in steel "L" brackets where I needed an attachment point that was lost. As for body, if you just want to replace, you can go to www.bmsmotorparts.com/ and work your way to the TBX 260 body panels. There is also a bike being parted out from time to time on ebay you might want to check. Let me know if you want to see any before and after pics to give you some motivation. It might come out better than you think. Glad you're safe, and good luck!!

So i attended a "scooter block party" yesterday in Brooklyn that was attended by about 60 scooterists. I'd say the majority were contemporary Vespas, with a few older models (restored and un restored), some 1960s unrestored Lambrettas, one or two Kymcos, two Burgmans, a Yamaha tmax, two helixes, a few Buddys/Genuines -- an only ME with the Vog to represent the chinese scooter owner. We spoke a lot about service, and I got a lot of props for doing my own work. The Lambretta guys rebuilt their own scoots, but I was surprised that virtually no one ever picked up a wrench, not even to string up an led light. I felt good after that in what turned out to be about a 100 mile day through tunnels, over bridges, fast and slow knowing that I was able to participate as a result of my own hand. It was also nice to change a few "i thought chinese scooters were junk" opinions.
As I always say, this has turned out to be a great hobby. Keep on riding dawgs!

If the carb doesn;t do it, go over your vacuum lines and check for leaks. Culprits are often the cheesy tiny plastic connectors that come as stock.
