Very simple turn the KEY ON get a 12v light tester or a multi meter and test the bottom wire on the two plug of the CDI, if it using a 12v light tester and it Lights up it is a DC CDI, or if using a Multi Meter and it registers 12V its a DC CDI, IF NADA it is a AC CDI. No guessing with this test you will know which type of CDI you have. All other things, size number of wires etc can stir you wrong and cost you money. Alleyoop

Just re-adjust the valves when everything is aligned the TWO LITTLE HOLES even with the top of the head BIG HOLE straight up and now you can adjust both valves. Alleyoop

Well if no dash lights the 35w bulbs is not going to fix that, so your hacked wiring is probably causing your problems.

No the problem you currently have is the CARB IS FLOODING and gas is now getting into the crankcase and deluting your oil, It is not your valves causing the flooding. The float is probably stuck or if you do not have a fuel filter on the gas line crap got into it and the may be blocking the shutoff valve. So you need to take the carb off and check the float and check if when level it pushs the valve up and shuts off the gas inlet. Alleyoop

Well you probably can use JB weld it comes in two small tubes that you mix. You can find it at your hardware store or auto parts store. But for the price of it you can buy a new intake manifold.

Whoever that guy was that told you about little gain putting in a larger variator unless you increase the displacement tell him this and you can tell him I said it.
"THOSE WHO DO NOT KNOW, DO NOT KNOW THAT THEY DO NOT KNOW"
The thing a larger diameter variator will give you is more top end due to being able to get the belt to climb higher in the variator face thereby creating a bigger wheel. Remember a bigger wheel will turn a smaller wheel more times per revolution, same applies to the tranny gears.
Just ask yourself, What Turns the Clutch Pulley which in Turn Turns your Wheel..ANSWER..The Front Driven Pulley(Variator) which is turned by the crank. So the faster the crank turns the faster it turns the rear pulley that turns your wheel. Now how can one get the Rear Pulley to turn more times.. 1 way is to bump up the RPMS turning the crank faster, 2 get a bigger diameter Variator, 3 put in taller tranny gears.
More displacement gives the motor more power BUT if nothing else is changed it will not give you more top end. What it will do is get your scoot up to speed faster being able to pull the weight with the extra power.

Right on Jerry, lot of hoopla over nothing really these are not Ferrari precision made motors they are just modified lawn motor engines. Just pick your favorite flavor of oil whichever you have a taste for and change the oil at frequent intervals My odometer goes to 999 so I set it to zero every time I change the oil and when it clicks to 999 I change it again no biggie. What is the boost intake block? Don't care what you dremeled those jets are to big for a 72cc. And also remember they call it a 72cc but it really is not 72cc it is less.

Well all I can do is tell people is if it is LEAN or RICH one has to assume some checking has been done but running lean the first thing to do is to check for air leaks.

It all depends what the current carb came with, some come with 103, 105, 107 so you will have to open the bowl up and see what main jet it has in it. Alleyoop
